Chapter 64: Zero-Frame Startup, Instant Curses

In the afternoon, Chloe Reed and Iris Yates returned from a shopping trip to find someone standing at their front door.

The man was leaning against the wall, his suit worn casually. He wasn’t wearing a tie, and the top two buttons of his white shirt were undone, giving him a roguish, untamed air.

"You damn scumbag, what are you doing here?!" Iris Yates saw him and wasted no time letting the curses fly.

Walker Grant didn’t spare her a single glance, his eyes fixed on Chloe Reed, who stood behind her.

"Come with me to the hospital."

Chloe Reed’s lips curled into a sarcastic sneer. "Why? So I can kneel and apologize to your nephew?"

It was as if seeing him made all her hackles rise; she would attack indiscriminately the moment he got close.

Walker Grant’s sharp brows furrowed. He straightened up, walked over, and seized her hand. "You’re not going to be kneeling and apologizing to anyone. Someone is going to be kneeling and apologizing to you."

He pressed the elevator button. The car hadn’t gone down, so the doors opened almost immediately.

Chloe Reed tried to pull her hand away, but he only tightened his grip, leading her into the elevator.

Yates followed them
