“Thud!”

All of a sudden, a loud noise echoed from upstairs, causing Eileen to glance upward in concern. Reacting quickly, she slipped on her slippers and hurriedly ascended the stairs, fearing that something might have happened to Eric.

Apprehensively, Eileen pushed open the door to the room where the noise came from, and anxiously asked, “Eric, are you alright?”

Inside, she found Eric lying on the bed, seemingly trying to pick up the shattered pieces of a bowl on the floor.

“Eric, let me handle this. Just lie down and rest,” Eileen said gently, rearranging the pillows. behind him. She fetched a broom from outside and cleaned up the mess on the floor, though some stains remained.

Squatting down, Eileen used a few tissues to wipe away the remaining stains.

Eric watched her from behind, squinting his eyes, feeling amazed.

He never would have believed it if he had not seen it himself – Eileen knew how to do the work of a servant, something she had never done before.

Eric could not understand what caused this change in Eileen. He wondered if something had happened to her.
