Chapter 58
I took the bag from her. Although the appearance of the fruits and veggies wasn’t as appealing as those sold at the market, they were fresh and clean. I didn’t mind at all. In fact, I admired her and Dean for being self-sufficient- one working as a housekeeper and the other growing their own food.
“Thanks, Ada. You didn’t know about this, it’s not your fault. Don’t sweat it,” I replied softly.
“Ah, I know you’re kind-hearted. Kent is quite impulsive, always stirring up trouble. This time is no different. All I can do is apologize on his behalf. Can’t really help with much else,” Ada sighed.
She didn’t seem to know about Neil and Bonnie, otherwise, she wouldn’t just mention Kent.
After chatting with Ada for a while, I wanted to invite her to stay for dinner, but she declined. Before she left, I casually asked, “Ada, do you know any young girls in their early twenties? I have a friend, and he’s a nice guy, just can’t seem to find a girlfriend. He asked me to introduce him to someone, but I don’t know anyone.”
“If you don’t have a suitable person, let alone me.” Ada waved her hand dismissively.
“Doesn’t your daughter go to college? She must have lots of friends, all young and vibrant. If she doesn’t have a boyfriend, I’d actually like to introduce her to my friend, he’s really a great guy,” I said with a hint of regret.
Ada wanted to say something, and after a few seconds of silence, she shook her head and said, “My daughter just broke up with her boyfriend, but apparently someone is pursuing her. She won’t tell us who.”
Bonnie actually shared some information with her family? I was surprised. With her being such a well-behaved daughter, wasn’t she afraid of making her parents furious?
Did she confront her family or did Neil forcefully show up in front of her parents in my past life? I was not sure.
I was intrigued and asked again, “Really? Your daughter must be exceptional. The guy who’s chasing her must be decent. Don’t worry too much.”
“How can I not worry? Once you have your own children, you’ll understand. Parents always worry about their children, especially daughters. I’m afraid she’ll choose the wrong person,” Ada’s worried expression made me laugh.

Ada was taken aback and didn’t know what I was laughing at and just stared at me.
I quickly covered it up, “I was just laughing at how you’re overthinking. Like mother, like daughter. You’re a person of integrity and kindness, and your daughter will naturally be the same. Birds of a feather flock together, and the man she’s interested in must be exceptional too.”
I complimented Ada, but what Bonnie will do in the future might make her question whether Bonnie is really her daughter.
In fact, I was really laughing at Ada’s overthinking. What did it matter if her daughter date the wrong person? What was the use of objecting? In the end, Neil’s combination of wealth and sincerity won out. I believe money played a big part. If it were an ordinary married man, who wanted to divorce for Bonnie, her parents would highly strongly disapprove.
“You are flattering me.” Ada was a little embarrassed.
“By the way, I always hear about your daughter from you. I’m curious about what kind of girl she is. Can I see a picture of her?” I asked, pretending to be curious.
Ada took out her phone, flipped to a family photo and showed me. After one glance, I expressed my astonishment, “Ada, so your daughter is Bonnie!”
Ada was also surprised, “You know my daughter?”
She had never told me her daughter’s name before.
I nodded, “Yes, I met her when she was working at the coffee shop. Then I accidentally bumped into her boyfriend and saw her again at the hospital. One thing led to another and we all got to know each other.”
“What a coincidence, I guess it is fate.” Ada was delighted and smiled brightly, “It’s Bonnie’s good fortune to know a friend like you.”
“Ada, I’ll invite you and Bonnie to have a meal together next time.” I said enthusiastically.
“We can’t let you pay. If you don’t mind, come to our house for a home-cooked meal next time.” Ada responded.
“Okay, I’ll go mooching in a few days, Ada, don’t mind if I do.” I couldn’t wait to visit their home. That would be Neil’s future parents-in-law’s house.
Ada gladly agreed. So far I could tell that she really liked me.

Chapter 58
After Ada left, my smile also faded. I felt like I was living in a dream. I stayed at home all day because Neil had told me to rest at home for the rest of the year and return to work after the New Year. I would still get paid even though I wasn’t working. I wasn’t short of money, but I was touched that he was willing to give me this privilege.
In the evening, it started to snow outside. The sno wflakes were big and fell lightly, covering everything in a layer of white. It felt like a winter wonderland.
Neil came in, dusted off the snow from his coat, and a housemaid immediately took it away. He changed into his slippers and came to sit beside me. The moment he sat down, I caught a whiff of a familiar perfume scent.
When I went on vacation, I brought back a bottle of perfume for each of them, including Ada. I could occasionally smell it on other housemaids, so it was somewhat familiar. Normally, Neil didn’t use perfume and didn’t care about these things, so he didn’t notice that his scent was different. I knew he must have just come back from Bonnie’s place. Ada probably gave the perfume to
her daughter.
