Chapter 79
“Scu mbag! My luck was just turning and you have to come and spoil it?! Get lost! You’re such an embarrassment!” Donald said angrily. Geneva couldn’t get up for a long time, and the people in the casino didn’t seem surprised, they were just enjoying the drama.
Shaken, I quickly left with Stella.
Bailey was waiting for us in the car. Seeing my pale face, he asked with concern, “Madam, are you not feeling well?”
I’m fine. Let’s go back to Rosemont,” I said, rubbing my neck. Stella also came over to check on me.
Frowning, she said, “Your neck is red all around. That woman was totally out of line!”
“What did she mean by her words?” I couldn’t help wondering, “Who has bought over Donald?”
“I have no idea. Donald is a gambler, he must be knee-deep in debt. Maybe someone paid off his debt for him, on the condition that he brings his wife back,” Stella speculated.
“But who could that person be?” I wondered aloud, “The detective I hired also found Donald before. Back then, he didn’t seem to care about his wife’s affair. Now I think about it, maybe they were a couple of swindlers. Geneva was tasked with luring rich men and then scamming them to pay off Donald’s gambling debt. But she probably also wanted to use this opportunity to divorce Donald.”
After a few seconds of thought, Stella’s eyes widened, “Could it be… Neil? Didn’t you also see those photos at his place?”
My heart sk ipped a beat, I murmured, “Could the pictures have come from here?”
He must have gotten the negatives too! I know him well. He’s very thorough. If he paid for something, he’d want to get the most out of it. What’s the point of having these copies if he doesn’t have the negatives?
Once I sign the divorce papers, I can get the photos and negatives from him.
By the time we got back to Rosemont, it was already dark. Stella and I found a place to eat. During the meal, she cursed Neil eighteen times.

“After you get divorced, I’ll introduce you to some hot guys. There are so many men out there, why should you stick with this jerk!” Stella comforted me, “I don’t believe that he and that Bonnie can last. He’ll regret it in the future.”
I sighed. For a moment, I even had the impulse to tell Stella about my reincarnation.
But such a thing sounded ludicrous. And if this secret got to Neil, who knows what would happen.
“That’s no longer my concern,” I said, eating my dessert and suppressing my emotions, “But remember what you said. When the time comes, you have to introduce me to several handsome men.”
“I promise I will!” Stella smacked her chest.
After dinner, I asked Bailey to take Stella home first, then I went back to Sterling Estates. As soon as I got home, an unknown number called me. When I picked up, I heard Garnett’s voice, “Finally, I got through. My previous number was blocked again.”
His helpless tone made me want to laugh.
“Ms. Finch, may I take you out for a meal?” Garnett asked straightforwardly.
“I just had dinner,” I replied.
“Then let’s go to a movie,” he insisted.
I didn’t watch movies often, only occasionally in college with Stella and others. The rest of the time, I usually watched at home in my basement theater.
Even so, I had fantasized about going shopping, watching movies, and having candlelight dinners with Neil. I fantasized for a whole ten years.
No matter how mundane the thing is, it becomes different when you do it with the one you love.
Sadly, my fantasy has never been realized.
I hesitated, then agreed, “Okay. Which cinema?”
After getting the address, I asked Bailey to take me to the mall where the cinema was. The cinema was on the fifth floor. Garnett was already waiting for me there.
He was elegantly dressed, wearing glasses, and holding two cups of hot chocolate and a bucket of popcorn. Seeing me, he smiled, “Ms. Finch, I’m over here!”
I walked over. He handed me a cup of hot chocolate, “I didn’t know what drink you like. If you don’t like this, I can get you something else.”
I shook my head, “No need. I like hot chocolate”
Garnett chose a romantic comedy. I had no objections. As the movie started, we found our seats and sat down. He whispered, “Drink it while it’s hot.”
“Okay, I took a sip of the hot chocolate.
The movie was hilarious and the plot was interesting. I thought I would fall asleep, but in the end, I laughed until tears came out.
Because I set my phone to silent, I only saw Neil’s missed call after leaving the cinema.
I called back. He was on another call. I didn’t bother and just followed Garnett out of the mall. He said he would take me to have a late-night snack.
