Deirdre remembered something, and her expression changed for a moment. She said swiftly, “Unless you don’t want me anymore.”

“Why would I not want you anymore?” Kyran chuckled casually as if he had just heard a joke.

Deirdre could not bring herself to smile all along. She knew that the warm, affectionate time would pass anyhow. She knew that she would have to tell Kyran about the situation in the end, no matter how long she could drag this on.
