Artemis had seen that coming.

Around two days ago, he discovered the grudges between Anonymous and Cadence, so he deliberately mentioned the name before Veronique today.

Artemis was sure that Veronique would contact Anonymous immediately. Thus, he sent someone to wiretap her communication devices after she left the Luther residence and ordered Ken to tail her in secret.

As she went to meet Bailey, that could only mean one thing—Bailey was related to Anonymous.

They might even be the same person.

“Got it. You can leave now. Be careful so they won't discover you've been tailing them,” he reminded.

“Yes.”

After the call ended, Artemis stood before the window silently. The night sky reflected in his deep, unfathomable gaze.

A brief silence later, he scrolled to Dwayne's number and gave the latter a call.

When the call got through, he ordered, “Contact Prince Dodi from Eskaria and tell him I'll video call him tomorrow.”

“Why?” Dwayne's confused voice rang out. “Why do you want to contact a member of the Eskarian royal family all of a sudden?”

Arching a brow, Artemis revealed, “I might know who Anonymous is, but I need Prince Dodi to confirm it.”

“Well...” Dwayne hesitated. “Back when Anonymous operated on the King of Eskaria, he must've agreed not to reveal her identity to the public. I'm afraid video-calling him won't work.”

“Just do as I say.”

“Fine. I'll contact the Eskarian embassy and see if they can set up a special line for you to video call Prince Dodi.”

The next day, Bailey stepped out of the headquarters of Luther Group at noon and ran into Edmund immediately.

“Why are you here?” she asked.

Edmund hurried up the stairs and took her briefcase from her. Grinning, he explained, “My grandpa would like to meet his future granddaughter-in-law. Ms. Jefferson, are you free to come with me now?”

Bailey gave a light nod. Sighing, she said, “Edmund, your aunt hates me. If I show up at the Luther residence, she might suffer from a heart attack and even cough out blood.”

“My grandpa moved back to the Chivers residence last night. Don't worry. I won't let you see Aunt Felicity and make things difficult for you.”

Frowning, Bailey replied in resignation, “That won't do, either. Your father hates me, and I don't want you to be put on the spot.”

Edmund chuckled lowly and led her down the stairs. “Don't you worry. My grandpa's back, so he calls the shots in the Chivers family. He agreed to let me pursue you and warned everyone not to oppose our relationship. My dad had acquiesced silently to let us date each other, so he won't make things difficult for you.”

Bailey came to a stop and turned to look at him. “Edmund, aren't you afraid of the rumors? After all, I gave birth to your cousin's—”

“Shh,” Edmund cut in. “Stop saying that. We're not old-fashioned people, so there is no need to care about what people say about us. Let's go pay my grandpa a visit. Not as his daughter-in-law, but as someone from the younger generation who respects him.”

Bailey could not help but chuckle at his words.

Edmund was thoughtful enough to step back whenever appropriate and always hit the nail on the head so that she could not come out with any retort.

As part of the younger generation, she would have to visit his grandfather no matter what.

“Fine. Let's get some fruits at the fruit shop. I can't visit him empty-handed, can I?”

“Sure.”

After they left, two tall figures emerged from the private passage at the right of the building.

Standing on top of the stairs, Artemis stared at their retreating backs as his lips pressed together into a thin, hard line.

Edmund, huh? He's everywhere in her life. Does she have space for someone else?

Behind him, Dwayne bore a conflicted look.

It's an internal strife between cousins. Alas, no one can control who they fall in love with.

“Mr. Luther, you have an appointment to video call Prince Dodi. Let's go upstairs,” he reminded.

Artemis looked away and mumbled, “Looks like I'm still too slow. I'll have to speed up, or I'll regret it for the rest of my life.”

In the car, Edmund focused on driving and did not say a word.

Bailey sat in the passenger seat, seemingly hesitant to speak.
