Bailey was stunned.

Am I related to Waverly? I don't even know who she is.

“You must have mistaken, Mr. Luther. I don't know anyone with the name of 'Waverly.'“

The man drew closer until he was about two meters away from Bailey. “It can't be...” he muttered, gazing at her. “You look so much like her. May I know your name, miss?”

Bailey was confused but somehow felt the name “Waverly” was vaguely familiar.

Although Bailey was confident that she had not met Waverly, that name sounded familiar to her.

She recalled that Lionel had an aunt, Waverly, who married into the Shurmer family of Lostaria thirty years ago.

Famed for its extensive wealth, that prestigious family was only second to the Luthers in the continent of Aploth.

Did he just say that I look like the mistress of the Shurmer family, Waverly Gezmond? What is going on? Waverly has a son and a daughter. The eldest child is Zeke Shurmer, a talented and world-renowned man, and the second is Zoey Shurmer, one of the top ten celebrities. Both of them have nothing to do with me.

“I'm Bailey, Clarence Jefferson's eldest daughter, also Rhonda's sister.”

“Oh, so, you're Bailey. I'm sorry. You're no way close to Waverly,” Gerald said with his brows stitched after a brief silence.

I'm no way close to Waverly? That's not a nice thing to say.

Bailey smiled subtly and agreed, “You're right. I'm no way close to her. She's the eldest daughter of the Gezmond family, who married a Shurmer. A deserted daughter chased out by her family is nothing compared to a respectable woman like her.”

Realizing he had spoken too harshly, Gerald quickly explained, “I didn't mean it that way. You're an impressive woman yourself. I've heard of all the things you did when I was abroad. You bore Simon two children, and I hope you can be part of the Luther family too.”

“Thank you. Please excuse me if there's nothing else. Mrs. Luther is still waiting for updates about Max,” Bailey said apathetically, maintaining a rigid smile.

Then, she turned and went toward the garden.

He looked disappointed back there. I bet she's his first love. Well, I'm not surprised. No one can forget their first love.

Gerald watched Bailey as she walked away. “Bailey Jefferson, the eldest daughter of the Jeffersons. She's not related to the Gezmonds at all, and nor is she Waverly's daughter, but why does she look so much like her?” he muttered.

Bailey returned to the Luther residence's living room to talk to Felicity. Although the latter no longer taunted Bailey, she still behaved coldly toward her.

“How's Max? Have you come up with a cure for him?” Felicity asked.

Bailey raised her brows and flashed her a half-hearted smile. “Do you think it's easy researching a drug?”

“You...”

“Come on. Don't be angry. It's bad for your health. As for the medication, I'm still looking into it, so just wait a while more, and don't mess with me. I assure you I'm the only person on earth who can save your grandson, so if you provoke me, I'll walk away.”

Felicity clenched her jaw and forced back her anger. “Fine. I'll do as you said, but you'd better try your best. I'll acknowledge you as my nephew's wife if you cure Max, but if you fail, you'll end up having a miserable life in the Chivers family.”

Meanwhile, Beatrice was concerned when she saw that Rhonda had returned to the Jefferson residence. “Ronni! Why are you home? I thought you were with the Luthers taking care of that b*stard? Did something happen?”

Rhonda threw her handbag on the table and collapsed onto the couch. “Bailey went to the Luther residence, so I came home. I don't want to see her.”

Beatrice sat down beside her daughter and smiled. “Just a while more, Ronni. Artemis will marry you soon.”

The young woman straightened her back in surprise. “Do you have a plan, Mom?”

“Yes.”

Beatrice whispered something to her.

“A-Are you sure?” Rhonda inquired hesitantly.

“Your dad has already approved of the plan. You'll have to suffer a little, but it'll be worth it.”

“I don't mind,” Rhonda said, waving her hand. “I'm willing to do anything to marry Artemis and become part of the Luther family, even if it means risking my life. I will be his wife even if I can't get his heart. This is my sweetest revenge.”

Beatrice patted her on the shoulder. “That's right, my girl. Men are not dependable, especially those like Artemis. They're wealthy and have many options, so you should focus on what they can offer instead of obsessing over winning their hearts. This is the biggest security you can get in your life.”

“I'll do as you say, Mom.”

The butler suddenly walked over with a plate of smoked Eisbein. “Mrs. Rhonda, you're just in time. Mrs. Jefferson has just made some smoked Eisbein. Do you want to try some?”
