Even though it was fake, Zoey still felt uncomfortable when she heard it. The sooner I reveal the truth about the marriage certificate, the better. I'm the only one who deserves to be Mrs. Luther. No other woman deserves that title.

Meanwhile, Bailey was typing in the lead designer office inside Luther Group's headquarters.

The words “Resignation Letter” were boldly seen on the screen. She had decided to leave Hallsbay once the new batch of medicine entered the market.

After being at a loss for so long, I've finally made a choice that seems right to me. Old Mr. Chivers is right. Even if I don't think about myself, I should still consider Zayron and Susan. They are still young, and they deserve to have a worry-free life. They shouldn't be stuck in a life where their perspective on the world is constantly twisted by rumors and gossip. Artemis... I guess this name will forever only be a dream of mine in Hallsbay, however alluring he may be. Even if I'm understanding him gradually, I must still keep my distance from him.

Right then, the door to her office opened, and she caught sight of Artemis walking in. She quickly moved her mouse and closed the file. I can't let him know about this for now. Otherwise, I won't be able to leave.

“Do you need something?” Bailey asked, raising her head.

Silently, Artemis walked toward the office table, propped himself up with his hands, and raised his eyebrows. “I heard you delegated some of your most important tasks to Stephen. Is your body unable to handle the stress?”

Bailey was stunned. I didn't expect him to be this sensitive. Nothing can be hidden from him, huh?

“Yeah. The new batch of medicine produced by Dyke Pharmaceutical should be completed in a few days. So, I need to be on top of my game to deal with it. Since I won't be able to take care of company matters well, I thought I might as well let Stephen handle it. He's the director of the design department, so logically, he should share my burden.”

“Is that so?” Artemis smiled as he fixed his dark eyes on hers.

The look in his eyes was intense as though he was trying to see through her. Even though Bailey's willpower was strong, it was still slightly unbearable to her. This man's observation skills are too powerful. It'll rouse his suspicions if I act oddly, even just a little bit.

“Did my granddad tell you anything in the past few days, Bay?”

Bailey replied, “He did. He's still thinking about my marriage to Edmund. So, whenever I went to the Chivers residence, he would ask me about it. He said I was the one who saved his life, so I had to give him a reason to keep living. For the moment, watching Edmund getting married and having a child is the most meaningful thing to him.”

Artemis smiled faintly, seemingly believing her, but there was still a look of suspicion in his eyes. “Then he's going to be disappointed because you'll never be his granddaughter-in-law. Well, not in the way he hopes, anyway.”

That rendered Bailey speechless. This man is so conceited.

In the living room of the Saunders residence, Vincent and his daughter were talking.

“Dad, the Department of Justice has contacted me for a third time, asking me if I want to file a lawsuit to overturn Victor's case. They'll send him straight to prison if I don't reply to them again. What do you think about this?” Victoria asked.

Leaning against his chair, Vincent replied with a question of his own instead. “What about you? What do you think should be done?”

“He has a rotten character. Even if we help him this time, he still won't learn his lessons and will make an even bigger mistake in the future. I think it may be a good thing for him to stay in prison for a few years.”

Without hesitation, Vincent said, “Then let him stay there. We'll give up on overturning his case.”

Victoria raised her head and stared at him, flabbergasted. “C-Can you really accept that your only son is going to jail?”

“It has nothing to do with that. He broke the law, so now he's getting punished for it. No exceptions. The brat from the Gezmond family will probably deal with me next, which is fine by me. I'll end things with him. Hopefully, he's willing to let you go.”

“Dad, I—”

Before she could finish her sentence, Vincent raised his hand and stopped her. “Give the Department of Justice a call and let them know about our decision.”

On the top floor office of Fashionista, Lionel was having a meeting with several of the company's high-ranking officials when his phone, which was sitting on the table, buzzed.

Soon, a text message popped up on the screen.

It read: Mr. Gezmond, the Saunders family gave up on overturning the case. The Department of Justice has transferred Victor to Hallsbay's male prison.

Lionel's finger trembled slightly after he read the message. She gave up on appealing? Is she really going to watch her older brother be sent to prison and receive a criminal record?

At that moment, a myriad of emotions flashed through his mind. Sorrow, bitterness, and other negative emotions hit the weakest spot of his heart repeatedly.

It was the weekend. On the second floor of a large mall in Century Square, Rhonda was shopping in branded stores with a few young women surrounding her.

She very much enjoyed being treated like a star, for it thoroughly satisfied her ego.

When they exited the store, a young woman with a girl bumped into her.

Rhonda was furious. “Are you blind, b*tch? How dare you bump into me! Do you have a death wish?”
