“Huh?” Rainie gave her a dubious look and uttered, “What did you say, Ms. Jefferson? I didn't hear you clearly.”

Bailey smiled and responded with another question. “Do you really want the Best Actress award at the Oscars so badly? In my opinion, you shouldn't be too persistent because it's rather superficial. I've gotten countless awards in recent years, but I've never gone up the stage to receive them. That's because I think these things are just for show, and there they shouldn't dictate your life.”

“You're rather open-minded, Ms. Jefferson!” Rainie couldn't help but exclaim. After a brief pause, she added, “Frankly, I'm not fazed by getting the Best Actress award at the Oscars. However, Cosmos Studios announced that the Best Actress this year will be given the lead role in “Time Warp.” I'm a huge fan of Morpheus's works. If I acted in a character of hers, it would be a dream come true.”

“Oh? Morpheus...” Bailey dragged her word and smiled. “I can't help you with anything else but that. All right, then. I'll keep it in mind.”

“What?” Rainie stared at her in shock. “What do you mean, Ms. Jefferson?”

“It's nothing.” Bailey raised her glass and clinked it against Rainie's. She then arched a brow and said, “Fate has brought us together. In that case, I shall make you my friend. From now on, I'll address you as Rainie, and you shall address me as Bailey.”

Bailey's words rendered Rainie speechless.

On the other side of the square, Susan was seen sprawling on the table and munching on fruits.

Her manager's eyes were twitching as he watched from the side. “Susan, is eating really your priority right now? Answer me this, okay? Did you ask Mr. Simon to talk to Mr. Luther so that he would give you the Best Child Actor Award?”

With a mouthful of fruits, Susan blurted, “Simon didn't even want to acknowledge me. That jerk threw some money at us and told us to get out of his face. Do you think he would still care about me?”

The manager was taken aback, and he looked slightly helpless. I thought she would definitely get whatever she wanted in her career after acknowledging Mr. Simon as her father. Heck, I thought she could get the Best Child Actor Award! However, who would've thought that Mr. Simon would ignore her?

“Susan, why don't we look for your uncle? After all, he's the owner of Luther Group, the biggest sponsor of the Oscars. You're his niece, no? I bet he'll give you the Best Child Actor Award,” the manager said.

Susan rolled her eyes at him and answered in a helpless tone. “If my dad doesn't even care if I live or die, what makes you think Uncle Artemis will help me?”

Suddenly, a little girl dressed in a princess gown, accompanied by a few child celebrities, approached them.

One of them couldn't help but mock, “Susan, it seems you have a shred of self-awareness. Arethea had gotten her Uncle Zeke to help her out this time around. The people at the Oscars already promised her the Best Child Actor Award.”

“Did you think you could climb the ladder by associating yourself with the Luther family? You're merely an illegitimate child! The Luther family doesn't intend to acknowledge you. Otherwise, why would your dad pay you guys off? Susan, you're a joke! You've even said Mr. Luther had moved the Oscars to Hallsbay because of you, right? Is that so? Who do you think you are? Why would the head of the Luther family spend that kind of money on an illegitimate child like you?” another mocked.

“That's enough. Guys, stop making fun of Susan,” Arethea interrupted.

With a smile, she walked up to Susan and said, “Susan, there's no need to go beyond your depth. We all know about your family background. As an illegitimate child, you should keep a low profile from now on.”

A glimmer of viciousness glinted in Susan's eyes because she was triggered by being called an illegitimate child.

Upon hearing those words, she was devastated, and she was on the verge of crying.

All of a sudden, she picked up the fruit platter and threw it at Arethea and the rest. Right after that, she jumped off the stool she was sitting on and dashed toward them.

Instantly, the whole place broke into chaos.

Seeing that, the manager quickly chased after her. “You rascal! Stop right there! Don't run away now that you've caused a mess! I'm going to teach you a lesson!”

Susan ran straight into the lounge area.

There, she saw Ken standing in the dark and started crying inconsolably.

Ken was stunned. He hurriedly went to her and hugged her while asking, “What's wrong? What happened? Who bullied you?”

In response, Susan kept mum and cried even harder.

Exasperated, Ken turned around and barged into the lounge.

At that moment, Artemis was having a conversation with the executives of the Oscars. He was enraged when he saw Ken barging into the lounge. Right when he was about to scold Ken, he saw Susan sobbing and trembling all over. He then immediately got up from the couch and strode over to Ken. “Why is she crying?”

As clueless as Artemis was, Ken handed Susan over to Artemis and turned toward the executives of the Oscars. “Gentlemen, Mr. Luther has some private matters to attend to. Do you mind giving him some privacy?”

One of the executives immediately answered, “The grand ceremony is about to begin, so we have to make some arrangements. Let's not bother Mr. Luther any longer. We'll treat Mr. Luther to a meal after the event.”
