As soon as the words left her lips, higher-ups of the Oscars emerged from backstage.

“Ms. Rose, I understand that you feel disappointed about the results. I would like to express my sincere apologies, but unfortunately, the winner of the Best Actress award isn't you this year.”

After he was done speaking to Rose, he turned to the group of black-clad bodyguards and instructed, “Escort Ms. Rose down the stage. Do not delay the rest of the award ceremony.”

“Understood.”

Rose's legs buckled from underneath her, and she slumped to the ground.

It's not me? I didn't win Best Actress? Then, why did I run up the stage so eagerly? I even made a fool out of myself.

In truth, Rose had indeed become the butt of the joke, the crowd roaring with laughter at her expense.

“Hahahahaha!”

The female attendees felt much better after finding out Rose wasn't the winner of the coveted award.

In the VIP section, Wendy looked at Lionel with a hint of puzzlement in her gaze. “Nell, didn't LG Corporation submit Rose as their candidate for Best Actress? How did things end up like this? Did the organizers make a mistake?” she asked, her voice trembling.

The man cast her a glance and reminded her indifferently, “Don't forget that Artemis is sponsoring the ceremony this year. In fact, it's a full sponsor. Naturally, the organizers are more than happy to go along with his wish.”

Wendy was astounded and unable to conjure a response at that moment.

The show could finally go on after Rose was pathetically dragged off the stage, and the host went on to announce, “The winner of this year's Oscar for Best Actress is Fashionista's Rainie Yeanisky! Let us welcome her to the stage with a round of applause!”

When they heard the announcement, the audience was shell-shocked.

Isn't Rainie under LG Corporation as well? Since she stole Rose's limelight, I bet there's internal strife afoot.

Rose, who had lost all the strength in her limbs and was being supported by the bodyguards, instantly became agitated upon hearing Rainie's name.

“N-No! How can this be? She's nothing but a pretty face! How can she win Best Actress instead of me?” she exclaimed, her tone laced with exasperation.

She could bring herself to accept another female celebrity who had won over her for the award but not Rainie, who she had underestimated and looked down upon all this while.

If that b*tch wins, it'll be extremely humiliating for me!

Blinded by hatred and disbelief, Rose declared, “No, there must be something shady going on behind the scenes! I have to expose this to the public. I'll expose all of you!”

The higher-ups of the Oscars, who were seated in the VIP section, were fuming with anger at that point. They could hardly believe how thick-skinned the disgraced female celebrity was.

That woman pulled some strings to win three years in a row. If it weren't for the fact that she's best friends with Ms. Wendy, she wouldn't have been able to win the award for Best Actress at all! Yet, she has the audacity to say there's something shady going on. What a fool she is!

“What are you all waiting for? Hurry up and drag that crazy woman away, d*mn it!” demanded the higher-ups.

The award ceremony was being broadcasted live across the globe. If Rose continued to cause a scene, certain things might be revealed, despite the fact that they were not meant to come to light.

The bodyguards didn't hesitate to subdue the woman. One of them knocked her out and carried her out of the venue.

In the southeast area, Bailey reached out to poke Rainie in the shoulder. A smile hung on the former's lips as she said, “What are you waiting for? The host invited you onto the stage. Hurry up and go already!”

Only then did Rainie return to her senses. “Huh? Bailey, did I really win?”

Bailey arched a brow.

Well, is there any issue in this world that can't be resolved by power and status? In order to protect you, Sylvester was willing to set his pride aside to butter up his buddy. If you didn't win the award for Best Actress, then those two would be utterly incompetent.

“Yes, you did. Go on! Everyone's waiting for you.”

“Oh, okay.”

Bailey's smile widened as she watched Rainie leave. For some reason, the latter reminded Bailey of her younger self.

If Sylvester manages to win her heart, he'll definitely be a lucky one.

After presenting the award for Best Actress, the host went on to announce the winners of other categories, including Best Lead Actor and also Best Supporting Actor.

Most of the winners worked on films adapted from Morpheus' work.

In a way, Morpheus helped them achieve their dreams, so all of the winners expressed their sincere gratitude to her when they went on stage to accept their awards.

When the host asked them what they wanted to do most at the moment, all of them said they wanted to meet Morpheus to thank her for writing such interesting stories, as it was her vivid imagination and extraordinary talent that allowed them to bring those fantastical worlds to life.

A mysterious look crept into the host's eyes as he listened to them. In a half-joking manner, he said, “Perhaps Ms. Morpheus will grace us with her presence tonight and fulfill your wishes.”

Naturally, everyone assumed the host was merely joking around as Morpheus had won hundreds of literary awards, but she never once showed herself at the award ceremonies.

“All right, let's move on to the next category. The winner of the Best Child Actor Award is... Susan Jefferson, also known as Barbara!”

Arethea burst into tears as soon as the winner was revealed and threw herself into Shirley's embrace.

“Aunt Shirley, you lied to me! You said Uncle Zeke would help me win the Best Child Actor Award, yet Susan's the one who got it! You're all liars!” she whined.

Not knowing how to handle a child who was in the midst of a temper tantrum, Shirley merely remained silent.

Meanwhile, the rest of the audience couldn't help expressing their thoughts about the situation. “Oh my, Arethea didn't win? How is that possible?”

“I know, right? How could she lose, and how on earth did Susan Jefferson manage to snag the award?”

“Can't you see she's merely playing dumb? She already knew she was going to win but still put on an innocent act. We were all fooled by her!”
