“Congratulations on winning the Best Child Actor Award, Barbara!”

The girl passed the flowers that she was holding to the host before receiving the trophy from her mother.

With the spotlights focusing on Susan, the audience broke into applause, reverberating through the auditorium.

After the crowd quietened, the girl tilted her head and asked, “Ms. Morpheus, I've already been awarded the Oscars' Best Child Actor Award. Have I earned the right to take part in your new production?”

Bailey smiled and pinched Susan's cheeks affectionately before replying in front of the tens of thousands of guests who were present, “You can take part in any of my productions you like. From today onward, you will be the one selecting your role and not the other way around. If there's any role that you would like to attempt, just let me know, and I will invite the Best Actor and Best Actress to act with you.”

After saying that, Bailey said to the audience in a half-joking manner, “Would the Best Actor and Best Actress of the evening be willing to act with my daughter?”

Elliot, who had just won the Best Actor Award, took over the microphone from one of the members of the event crew and replied smilingly, “That would be my honor.”

A moment later, Rainie, the Best Actress of the evening, spoke. “It would also be my honor to act with Ms. Jefferson's little princess.”

Susan was overjoyed when she heard that and started jumping in delight while clapping her hands. “Hooray! I'm so looking forward to acting with both of you too!”

Meanwhile, the other young actors and actresses in the audience were casting looks of envy at Susan.

It was finally clear to them why Morpheus had appeared.

“Everyone, please quiet down.” The host gestured for the audience to keep quiet before saying with a smile, “Since Ms. Morpheus has graced the event personally, it's time for us to announce the winner for the final award of the evening. Let us congratulate Ms. Morpheus for winning the Best Writer Award for the fifth consecutive year!”

Immediately after the host finished speaking, voices of agreement could be heard from the audience.

“Ms. Morpheus definitely deserves the title!”

“There's no question about that.”

“Indeed, we agree.”

Those who had spoken were all internationally acclaimed writers whose works had been adapted into movies or dramas.

Their praises for Morpheus were from the bottom of their hearts as they truly believed that the woman was the most iconic figure in the industry.

She was widely respected as many of her works had a profound effect on the younger generations, imparting the right values to them.

The organizer of the Oscars walked up on stage holding the trophy and stopped next to Bailey. “For the past four years, I've been hoping to see Morpheus at the Oscars but ended up disappointed. It's definitely my greatest honor to see you here tonight,” the man said with a smile.

Bailey nodded slightly before taking over the trophy from him and said, “This is the first time I'm receiving a literary award on stage, and it would also be the last time. This evening's awards ceremony is deeply meaningful to me. Once again, I would like to thank all my friends and fans for your support over the years.”

After saying that, the woman looked toward the camera and bowed deeply.

The awards should be given to the newer writers to encourage them to create better works instead. I shouldn't continue hogging the nomination list.”

The audience responded with thunderous applause after hearing Bailey's words. Everyone was clapping for the woman from the bottom of their hearts, feeling in awe of the literary master.

As the audience cheered, Bailey and her daughter walked down the stage, hand in hand.

When the mother-daughter pair walked past the VIP section, Susan made a face at Arethea and scoffed, “You were right! I'm indeed an illegitimate child. However, I was born to a good mother. See, I'm able to pick any role I'm interested in. Moreover, I get to act alongside the Best Actor and Best Actress. You must be really envious of me, aren't you? Hmph!”

Arethea was already very upset about not winning the award. After being criticized by the crowd, she could not help but feel that the entire world was against her and burst into tears once again.

At that moment, Zoey wanted nothing more than the ground to open up and swallow her. Shirley had gone to the restroom and left Arethea in her care, and she ended up being dragged into the current situation.
