Clarence didn't know how to respond.

After remaining silent for a few moments, he began, “Although the Jefferson family had treated you badly over the years, we were still the ones who raised you. I don't need you to repay us for raising you. I only hope you can promise me this one thing.”

Bailey chuckled.

Sure. I'll give him my promise and repay his favor. After that is done, we won't owe each other anything and won't cross paths again.

“I'm guessing you want to ask me to spare Rhonda's life, right?”

Clarence froze, and when he regained his senses, he hurriedly replied, “Ronni is my only daughter. I have to rely on her when I grow old. I beg you to let her off.”

“Okay,” Bailey replied without hesitation.

Clarence was surprised.

“Y-You agreed?”

“Of course. You're begging me for a favor in exchange for you raising me. How can I not agree?”

Clarence fell silent.

Standing up again, Bailey grabbed her sling bag and looked down at Clarence. “I promise to spare Rhonda's life to repay the Jefferson family for raising me over the years. I hope you can teach your daughter well and stop her from causing trouble again,” she declared, enunciating her every word.

Then she strode out of the coffee shop.

I only promised to let Rhonda off this time. Don't blame me for being merciless if she continues to stir up trouble.

After leaving the coffee shop, Bailey went to a café to meet Raiden.

The topic of their discussion was simple. It was regarding the bone marrow.

Raiden had probably guessed the purpose of Bailey's request to meet up, as before she could finish speaking, he had already agreed to think of ways to get Scarlett to donate her bone marrow.

Seeing how easily he agreed, Bailey did not feel relieved. Instead, her chest felt heavier.

She remembered that previously, he did not agree to let Scarlett donate her bone marrow.

Yet, after a few days, he conceded. It is definitely not because he's sympathetic. A ruthless person like him wouldn't care about a child's life. The reason why he changed is because of me. In other words, I have the ability to change his decisions. Is this a good thing, though?

“Raiden, I—”

Before she could finish, Raiden suddenly raised his hand to cut her off. “I know what you want to say. We all know, and that's enough. You don't need to say it out loud and make it awkward.”

Bailey made no reply and could only smile bitterly.

This man is way too sharp and quick-witted. I think I might have invited a love rival who will be hard for Artemis to deal with. But I have no choice. After weighing the pros and cons, I believe seeking Raiden is my best choice. I can't just watch Zephyr die.

Lionel met up with Micah at a high-end club in the city.

Although Wendy begged him incessantly to stop investigating, Lionel still wanted to find out what happened back then.

In the VIP room, Micah raised his brows and looked at Lionel sitting opposite him.

“We're not that close, Mr. Gezmond. So why did you want to see me?” Micah asked calmly.

Lionel did not beat around the bush. “I would like you to introduce me to Holden, the vice president of Tarragon.”

Narrowing his eyes and frowning, Micah asked, “Why are you looking for him? Since he's the vice president of Tarragon, he shouldn't have had any interactions with you, Mr. Gezmond.”

“I am seeking him due to some personal matters. Mr. Neyman, please help me arrange a meeting with him. I'll owe you a favor for this.”

“What a generous offer. Not many people can get a favor from you. How tempting. However...”

Micah suddenly paused, stretched out his hand to grab the wine glass on the table, and sipped before continuing, “However, Holden's whereabouts are often unknown. Even I don't know where he goes sometimes and can only meet him at Tarragon's headquarters. Usually, we don't contact each other in private.”

It was a direct refusal from Micah.

After all, Micah and Holden were the president and vice president of Tarragon, respectively. So how could they not contact each other?

Lionel creased his brows. “Mr. Neyman, you're exaggerating. I'm looking for him to... to ask him why he abandoned his wife and child.”

Micah's hand, which had been holding the wine glass, froze, and he glanced at Lionel in surprise.

Upon hearing the latter say, “abandoned his wife and child,” he recalled Shannon.

Although they did not have a kid, he would only have one woman and one wife his entire life, and that would be Shannon.

Still, in the end, he lost her.

Of course, what made him truly surprised was what Lionel said.

Holden abandoned his wife and child? When did he get married? Why do I not know about this?

“You must be joking, Mr. Gezmond. Everyone in Tarragon knows that Holden is unmarried. He seems to be repulsed by women. A few years ago, many foreign big shots sent him women to suck up to him. In the end, he killed them all. He even told them to stop sending him women and disgusting him. If not, their plan will only backfire.”

Lionel smiled. “Holden does have a woman, and she birthed him a son. Mr. Neyman, I'm sure you don't want me to use my influence to comb through the whole of Tarragon, right?”
