“Although I've lost my memories and don't remember anything that happened prior to six years ago, I know that you're my only family in this world. You shouldn't have secretly left me, and you shouldn't have avoided contacting me all these years.”

Shannon, sprawled in his arms, sobbed even louder.

He lost his memories. How good is that? He has forgotten that devastating matter that happened six years ago. Only by letting go of it can he have a life again. I can't let go of it, so I'm irreparable.

With those thoughts in mind, she wiped away her tears in a rough manner before giving him a weak smile.

“Holden, I've been doing well all these years. I've found a genuine friend, and she was the one who protected me for the past few years.”

Holden said nothing.

He only stared at her with a look of pity as complicated feelings washed over him.

After arriving at Hallsbay, he had done his homework and discovered what she had been through in the past six years.

That was why his heart ached for her.

He could not remember how his sister had lost her arm.

Amnesia had stolen away all of his memories.

Yet, his sister had to suffer through the loss of a child after he became powerful. How could he ever forgive himself for that?

“Be good, okay? Give me some time. I'll... take revenge for you.”

Shannon stiffened.

She thought her brother did not know about the matter, so she wanted to hide it from him so that she could spare him the misery.

Yet, as it turned out, he knew everything.

I'm too naive. Holden isn't the same young man who was an easy target for others six years ago. He's now a powerful and influential figure across the globe. It would be a piece of cake for him to look into what I've gone through all these years.

“Holden, I'm fine. You don't need to worry about me. I'm now invincible after all these things. They won't crush me anymore.”

As Holden gazed at her, he gently said, “It's okay. I'm more than capable of doing anything I want, so don't worry about me. No one in this world is able to lay a finger on me now.”

Sensing his insistence, Shannon said nothing else in protest. Instead, she let herself enjoy the moment of peace in his arms.

Lionel, who was in the Gezmond residence, received news from Micah that Holden was in Hallsbay. At the same time, Micah gave him Holden's contact details and told him to contact Holden himself.

Before he ended the call, Micah revealed to Lionel something else—about how Holden had lost his memories six years ago and had forgotten many people and things.

At that, Lionel became even surer that Holden had not meant to abandon Wendy and her child. Holden had to have a reason for his abrupt departure back then.

The next day, Bailey went to the medical base and did a full-body checkup for Zephyr.

The boy had strong willpower. His body was quick to adapt to the transplanted bone marrow, and his recovery was swift.

After stepping out of the ward, Bailey pulled Veronique aside and said, “This time, we've managed to force Scarlett to donate her bone marrow, so there's no way she's going to let us off the hook easily. You have to be careful not to let her have an opportunity to strike you down.”

Veronique nodded. “I know. It's all thanks to you this time, Bay. I wouldn't know how to get Scarlett to agree to the bone marrow donation if I had to do this alone. If that had been the case, I would've been able to only watch Zephyr get weaker and weaker with each passing day.”

Bailey reached out to pat her shoulder comfortingly. “We're friends, and this is what a friend should do for another. Take good care of Zephyr. By the way, spare some time to have Justin operate on you and remove your womb. If you keep it in you, you might get cancer. Now that Zephyr's alive, there's no need for you to bear another child. Keeping it will only be akin to keeping a time bomb in you.”

“Okay, I'll talk to Justin about it soon.”

After leaving the medical base, Bailey went to the Gezmond residence.

Instead of entering the place, she waited under the shade of a large tree by the flower bed.

Around five minutes later, Juliana came out.

“Didn't we sever our relationship? Why are you still here?”

Bailey chuckled in amusement before pinching Juliana's cheek. “All right, that's enough. Your acting is terrible to me. You don't want to get me involved, so you decided that you'd cut ties with me. Please, when have I been afraid of trouble? When have I ever been worried that you would drag me into a mess?”

Juliana did not respond to that.

“I hear that the Hoffman family has sent their people over to Hallsbay. Let me ask you something. Do you really like Zeke? Must he be the only one for you?”

Juliana continued to keep her silence.

“You're not going to talk? It's fine. I won't do anything then. We'll simply sit on our hands until the men from the Hoffman family come and take you away.”

With that, Bailey turned to leave.

Instantly, Juliana shot out her arm to grab Bailey. “Master, I don't want to go back to the family. If I do, I'm sure I'll never get out of there ever again.”

Bailey's lips curled. In the next second, she whacked Juliana on the head twice.

“Oh, have you finally realized that your actions are unrealistic and pointless? You still need to rely on me when the time comes, huh? Don't worry. They can't take you away without my permission.”

Hearing that, Juliana's eyes lit up. “You're not going to convince me to go back to the family? Instead, you're even going to deal with them for me?”

Bailey stroked her chin in silence for a while. “If your feelings for Zeke are genuine, and if Zeke returns those feelings, then what's wrong with me letting the two of you get together? Of course, if Zeke isn't interested in you, I hope you'll come to your senses and stop clinging to him.”
