Waverly raised her brows subtly upon hearing that.

She was sensitive enough to make out the resentment in her daughter's voice.

“What do you want, then, Zozo? You should just give up now that there's nothing else you can do. We can go back to Lostaria, and I will find you a good suitor.”

Zoey smirked at the suggestion.

With the seed of suspicion sown, Zoey would have too much to worry about as long as Bailey was still alive, so the only way out for her was to completely eliminate Bailey if she wanted to remain the daughter of the Shurmer family for the rest of her life.

That b*tch has to die.

“Granddad's death anniversary is coming soon, so why don't we stay back until we visit his grave? I'll go back with you to Lostaria after that.”

Waverly heaved a sigh of relief, glad that Zoey could look at the bright side of things.

She did not wish to see her daughter, whom the Shurmer family had put their heart and soul into raising, ruined because of a man who did not even care about her.

“I am glad you can take it with an open heart. You will still be the same Zoey Shurmer everyone looks up to back in Lostaria. What happened in Hallsbay will not affect your status in the upper-class society in Lostaria.”

Zoey clenched her fists as a spiteful thought flitted through her mind. I don't have much time left, so I will have to make full use of it to get rid of her.

Over in the CEO's office at Luther Group's headquarters, Bailey had just entered the room with a pile of documents when Artemis shot up from his chair and strode over to help her.

“Seriously? Can't you just chill a little? You should ask the secretary to do this,” he said.

The man had been on tenterhooks the whole morning because Bailey had been busying herself despite her pregnancy.

“I'm fine. I'm just sending some documents here. It's no big deal.”

With the stack of documents in one hand, Artemis wrapped his other arm around her waist to help her to the couch.

“Bailey, we should talk about this. I think you should stay at home instead of coming to the company.”

Bailey raised her brows and put on a faint smile. “Well, you can still keep an eye on me if I'm at the company. On the contrary, if I stay home, you won't even know what I'm up to. For all you know, I might be so bored out that I go car racing. I suppose that will make you jump out of your skin.”

Artemis' face fell. “All right. You should just stay around, then. I'd rather let you send documents around than go car racing.”

The thought of Bailey doing something dangerous sent chills down his spine.

He recalled the day Bailey behaved recklessly when she went racing. Given the fact that she was already pregnant then, it was fortunate that she did not have a miscarriage due to all the adrenaline rush from racing.

“By the way, there is an urgent document from Archulea that Xavier asked you to sign.”

Artemis looked down, and the content on the first document grabbed his attention.

“The largest cosmetic company in Archulea? Xavier is not bad at all to get a good deal like this. Cosmetico's mysterious owner is also here in Hallsbay and invited me for dinner tonight.”

Artemis' eyes suddenly shimmered as he looked at the label on the document and arched his brow. “Don't tell me you're the enigmatic big shot in the cosmetic industry,” he guessed, glancing at her from the corners of his eyes.

Bailey rolled her eyes.

Does he think all the eminent international figures in the world are me? Is that even possible?

“It's really not me. I also tried digging into the company's owner out of curiosity a year ago, but I only found out that she was Aplothian. To be exact, she is a woman in her fifties from Aploth, and her name is Sofie Carr.”

“Well, since you're so curious about the magnate in the cosmetic industry, I'll bring you to see her in person tonight,” Artemis replied with a smile.

Bailey could not hold back her laughter upon hearing the proposal. “Aren't you afraid that I might drink at dinner?”

Artemis patted her cheek, saying, “Do you think I'm dead? Of course, I'll stop you from doing so.”

Meanwhile, over in a five-star hotel's presidential suite in Hallsbay, an elegant woman was staring at the bustling city with a glass of red wine in her hand while she leaned against the floor-to-ceiling window.

Despite being in her fifties, the dashing woman from Aploth still looked like she was in her thirties.

She was Sofie Carr—the owner of the internationally acclaimed beauty brand called Cosmetico—and she had come to Hallsbay to discuss the brand's collaboration with Luther Group.

Creak!

The door was swung open, and a female assistant entered.

“Ms. Carr, Luther Group's CEO, Artemis Luther, has accepted your invitation.”

A smile graced the middle-aged woman's face as she leaned against the window. She then parted her lips to speak, her voice pleasant and melodious, bringing with it a unique air of elegance.

“It's been twenty years, and I'm finally back. Things have changed so much that I wonder if those I know still remember me.”

The assistant nodded and said, “I knew you were Chanaean, but I didn't know you used to live in Hallsbay, the most vibrant metropolis in the country. It is home to many talents like Artemis from the Luther Group, Edmund from the Chivers Group, Zeke from the Shurmer Group, and Lionel from LG Corporation. These four young and promising businessmen all grew up in Hallsbay.”

Sofie smiled faintly at the answer. “You're right. This city has won the hearts of many women because it houses the men of their dreams.”
