This smells strong. Why would he drink spirit without first eating anything? Does he think his stomach will be able to stand that?

“Stop drinking. It's hurting your stomach.”

She reached out to snatch the glass from him before turning to fetch him the soup she had brought.

Arching his brows, Holden reached his hand out in a flash to grab her on the arm and then yanked her over.

Following her cries of astonishment, sounds of the wine glass shattering on the floor rang in the spacious room.

By the next instant, she fell into Holden's arms. Or rather, she was lying in his arms.

It was unthinkable that a man as intimidating as him, who also happened to be celibate, would behave in such a frivolous manner.

“I-I...”

Wendy tried to wrench herself free from him, but he held her down by her waist.

“W-What do you think you're doing, Holden?”

Holden smirked as he pinned her hands down, raising his brow. “You're my woman. Seeing that you have my child, I don't think this situation is unbecoming of me.”

With that, he rolled over and pressed her under his body, his fingers traveling across her body.

“Calm down, H-Holden. We can talk things through if you have something on your mind. Let's talk.”

There was a hint of adoration in his piercing gaze as he ran his rough fingers over her soft lips.

I sure am interested in this woman. Does this mean I did love her? I wouldn't have accepted her in the first place if I hadn't gotten used to her body.

“Were we in love before this?”

Wendy bit her lips while averting her gaze slightly before lamenting, “How should I know if you've never loved me? I can't read your mind. Are you expecting me to open up your chest and check on your heart?”

Holden frowned. After a brief silence, he seemed to have things figured out. A smile bloomed on his face abruptly. “It's fine if we don't know the answer. Let's test it out.”

Taken aback, Wendy gulped and asked in a trembling voice, “H-How are we going to do that?”

Holden appreciated her body for a moment before allowing his gaze to land on her waist. Grinning, he quipped, “You'll know soon enough.”

Wendy nearly bit her tongue off out of embarrassment.

T-T-This is... I-I-Isn't he Holden Lewitt, the cruel and celibate vice president of Tarragon? Who is this man who's flirting with me while his body is pressed on top of mine?

“H-Holden, I-I... We can't do this.”

“Stay still,” Holden demanded impassively. “I need to know if I do love you. I bet you're also bothered by that question, no?”

Gradually, Wendy ceased her struggles as she gawked at him.

Does it matter if I want to know? He has full power over the situation and can change his mind on a whim. How can I trust him?

“Indeed. I wish to know your reasons for dating and even acquiescing to me being pregnant with your child back then. However, my opinion matters not. How can you give me an answer after losing your memories?”

“I sure can.” Holden began unbuttoning her shirt as he drawled, “I've been celibate throughout the years. It wasn't that I never felt the desire to sleep with women, but more that I wasn't interested. Since you've triggered that desire in me, I suppose I do love you.”

For a moment, Wendy was speechless.

What's gotten into his head?

“Y-You can find treatment for your amnesia. I-I can get Bailey to help. D-Don't use this method.”

“I'm already feeling it.”

Wendy had no words.

As Holden buried his face in the crook of her neck, his warm breath tingled her fair skin, and she felt as if the room temperature had surged.

As the cool air hit her body, she screwed her eyes shut.

“H-Holden, I'm not like those women in nightclubs who you can order around. Ouch, it hurts.”
