Shannon began to tremble as she watched Micah lying in a pool of his own blood.

Her eyes were fixed on his bleeding arms while desolation inundated her.

She instinctually shot a flying dart toward him earlier because she couldn't bear watching him disable his own arm.

If she hadn't injured his right arm, forcing him to let go of the dagger, his left arm would probably have been crippled by then. This man and his methods frighten me. No wonder people are afraid of him.

“You can't let him lie in the rain any longer, Shannon. He clearly hit a major artery when he stabbed himself earlier. If his bleeding isn't staunched soon, he'll die,” Ivy urged.

Shannon immediately snapped out of her senses and bent over, trying to help Micah up.

However, her wounds hadn't fully recovered yet, so she failed to do so.

Ivy then turned toward the bodyguards flanking them, shouting “What are you guys looking at? Go and help her right now!”

Meanwhile, at Shelbert Condominium, Bailey was sitting on a couch inside the study and narrowing her eyes at Veikko. With a frown, she inquired, “You're saying someone intentionally incited the conflict?”

Nodding, he informed, “That's right. Both factions had been staying out of each other's way due to orders from their respective leaders. Even if there were a major conflict, they wouldn't just start a fight. Yet, this time, Tarragon launched a vengeful assault simply because one of their agents was accidentally harmed by a member of the Saviors. Someone's definitely trying to start a fight between the two organizations.”

Bailey's frown deepened. It doesn't seem like this conflict was incited to start a war between the two organizations. It's more like... No, that's impossible. No one in both organizations knows about our relationship. Why would anyone be using this opportunity to separate us? I must be overthinking it.

Then, she requested, “Can you visit Gregan, Veikko? You must find out what exactly happened. Artemis and I can't risk exposing our identities, so neither of us can go. You're the only one who can.”

“Sure.” Veikko nodded. “Dexter's in Gregan right now, so I'm assuming Artemis asked him to investigate the matter. When the time comes, I'll contact and work with him to catch the mastermind behind this matter.”

“Okay.”

As Veikko expected, Artemis did contact Dexter.

It made sense, considering Holden was busy dealing with matters in Zaewora, and Micah was out of commission. Since both of them couldn't help Artemis, and he couldn't show himself, he could only ask Dexter for help.

“You must uncover the mystery behind the conflict in Gregan, Dexter. I want to know if someone intentionally caused it to happen or if it was because of an accident,” Artemis ordered.

“Don't worry, Artemis. You're my buddy, and Bailey's my friend. Since this matter involves the both of you, I'll do my best to unearth the truth,” Dexter assured.

“Good.”

During the afternoon, Veikko departed from Hallsbay and headed to Gregan on a plane.

Not long after the flight was underway, he noticed something odd.

“Who asked you to follow me?” He frigidly glowered at a flight attendant in a professional outfit.

Caridee flinched and replied timidly, “I-I want to have fun in Gregan. Since you're heading there, I thought I could come with you. Don't be so petty. I'm Bailey's sister-in-law, after all. It's no big deal for me to hitch a ride on your private plane, right?”

In response, he looked outside the window. The plane's high up in the sky right now. If I throw her down, she'll definitely turn into mush.

“Should I ask the pilot to turn around, or do you want to take a parachute down?”

Shaking her head vehemently, she pleaded, “No, no, no. I don't want to go back to Hallsbay. Please let me go to Gregan with you.”
