“Mr. Shurmer, welcome back.”

A maid's greeting sounded from the doorway.

Waverly rushed out at the sound.

Her heart sank at the sight of her husband's serious expression.

Could it be Bailey...

“Steven, how is Bailey? She's not badly hurt, is she?”

Although she had chosen her adopted daughter over her biological daughter, it didn't mean she could turn a blind eye to her own flesh and blood.

Steven looked her up and down before saying in a low voice, “I thought you dislike her. Why do you care now?”

Waverly stomped her foot and gritted her teeth. “She's still my flesh and blood! How can I not care about her? Can you stop playing games and tell me what happened?”

After a moment of silence, Steven said slowly, “She's fine. Felicity risked her own life to push her out of the car in the face of death and saved her. But... Felicity is now seriously injured and might become a vegetable.”

Waverly stared at him in disbelief, “Felicity Chivers? Did she risk her life to save Bailey? Don't joke with me! I'm certain that woman knows that Bailey was my daughter. How could she possibly use her own life to protect my daughter? It's impossible. That will never happen.”

Steven just shook his head and walked toward the living room.

Waverly stood still at the door. Steven's words about Felicity protecting Bailey with her life seemed to have dealt her a heavy blow.

Indeed, a woman with no blood relation to Bailey and even an arch enemy to her could cherish her daughter like a treasure. But what had she, the biological mother, done for her daughter?

With such a comparison, how could Waverly not be shaken?

“Felicity used her life to save Bailey. Did she protect my daughter with her own life? Haha, how could that be possible?”

...

That night, Felicity's condition fluctuated.

Bailey dared not let her guard down and watched over her in the ICU without even blinking her eyes.

Both the Luther family and the Chivers family, including Zeke, did not leave the medical base and made do with staying in the guest rooms.

When Bailey went into the ICU, she left her phone with Zayron.

Late at night, Zayron received a call from the head of the Saviors branch, saying there was movement on their end.

He didn't dare to disturb his mother, so he told Zeke about the situation.

Zeke thought for a moment and tried to suggest, “Although you're the young master of the Saviors, I'll be worried if you go and handle this alone. If you can take me with you, let me accompany you.”

Zayron was about to refuse, but Edmund patted his head and said in a gentle voice, “Listen to your uncle, Zayron. Don't be stubborn and act impulsive. Your mother's been highly stressed and she can't take any more shocks. If something bad happens to you, she will definitely collapse in an instant.”

Zayron shrugged and had to compromise, agreeing to let Zeke accompany him to the Saviors.

The seven-year-old boy still had a childish look on his face, but he had the air of someone who could conquer the world.

I won't let those who harmed my mother and bullied me off!

Although his mother didn't want him to be exposed to the bloody and dark side of things too early, his life was destined to be extraordinary—he was Artemis and Bailey's son.
