It was Lionel's voice.

He was shouting at Victoria.

It turned out that Victor was charging toward the woman with a knife and was about to stab her in the back.

While running, he yelled, “Don't blame me. You can only blame your man for being too ruthless. He had forced me into a dead end. Even though he had promised to transfer all the shares to me, he went back on his word. The best way for me to get back at him is to kill you. I want him to remain in misery for the rest of his life after losing his beloved.”

Victor lunged at Victoria immediately after he finished speaking.

With the knife aimed at her heart, Victoria would not stand a chance to survive if she were to be stabbed.

It was obvious that the man had gone completely berserk, given that he was even trying to kill his own sister.

The fact that he was disregarding blood ties meant that he was determined to get his revenge.

Shluk!

The knife was stabbed into a body.

Victoria's pupils contracted at once.

Did I just get stabbed? Why am I not feeling any pain?

The woman was certain that she had just heard the sound of a knife penetrating the flesh. W-What's going on?

Suddenly, a wave of terror engulfed her. Standing in the cold, Victoria was trembling so badly that her knees were almost buckling underneath her.

She did not dare to turn around, dreading that she might witness something that would break her heart.

She was worried that her greatest fear would come true and that her world would crumble in an instant.

She had clearly heard Lionel calling out to her earlier, but currently...

It seemed as if his voice had disappeared into the storm.

Victoria could no longer feel the man's presence.

“Ahhh! Murder! Murder! There's so much blood! He has lost so much blood!” a passerby exclaimed.

Murder?

Blood?

Who's bleeding?

Victoria knew that it wasn't her who was bleeding, and she wasn't feeling any pain either.

Clang!

The knife fell to the ground.

The next moment, the woman saw Victor dashing toward his car in a fluster. Without looking back, he got into the car and sped off instantly.

Victoria's body started shaking violently.

She slowly turned around. When she finally saw the scene in front of her, her pupils dilated with shock.

Lionel was looking at her with a smile on his face. At the same time, blood was trickling down from the corner of his mouth.

As she looked further down, Victoria noticed a hole in the man's chest. Blood was flowing out from it like a stream.

“Y-You...”

Lionel reached out and caressed her face while saying effortfully, “It's all right. Don't be afraid. It's cold out here. You should go back to the medical base now.”

After saying that, he struggled to turn around and leave.

A second later, Victoria burst into tears. As she did not dare to touch Lionel, she grabbed the corner of his shirt stubbornly, refusing to let him walk away.

“Please don't go, Lionel. Don't move. I'm so scared that I won't get to see you ever again. Both Dad and Mom had already left me. I'm the only one left in this world. What should I do if you leave me too? I don't think I will be able to carry on living. I will die too! Please, please don't let anything bad happen to you.”

Lionel sighed inwardly. As the knife had scraped past his heart earlier, he was not certain that he would survive.

Hence...

“We are already divorced. Since you're no longer my wife, whether you live or die is none of my business. Get lost! Get out of my sight immediately. I don't wish to see you ever again. Don't appear in front of me anymore!”

Victoria's cries were heart-wrenching. She continued tugging at his shirt, unwilling to loosen her grip even slightly. With tears streaming down her face, she pleaded, “Lionel, don't do this. Don't be like that, please. Stop being so cruel to me. Didn't you say you love me? If so, why are you crushing my heart so mercilessly now? How do you expect me to live without my heart?”

Lionel had been trying his best to suppress the extreme discomfort he was feeling in his stomach. Finally, he could no longer hold it back and spat out a mouthful of blood.

He staggered a few steps backward before slowly extending his arms and hugging Victoria.

Leaning into her ear, he said softly, “You will be fine. Be strong and live on well. You can start all over again as long as you are still living. Didn't you say I have messed up your life for the past decades? Without me dragging you down, you will be able to start anew. That sounds pretty good, right?”

Lionel slowly closed his eyes as he spoke. A moment later, his knees gave way, and he collapsed to the ground.
