After the initial surprise, Artemis gradually furrowed his brows. He didn't look closely earlier, but he realized presently that it was a mask.

Now that he took a closer look, he felt that it was hideous. Did she really intend to let him go out with such a sleazy-looking face?

No way! It would damage his overbearing CEO image too much. He was worried that once he stepped outside, people would chase him away with brooms. It was truly frustrating.

“Hey, Wifey, can we talk about this? How about changing to a slightly more normal-looking face?”

Bailey gave him a cold glance. There was a hint of danger flashing in her eyes. “What's the point of looking so handsome? Do you intend to go out to cause trouble for other girls? I'm telling you, I prepared this face especially for you. It's neat and efficient, and I won't have to worry about you attracting any women when you're out and about.”

The overbearing CEO cleared his throat and muttered, “I won't be attracting any women outside, but when you go out and take a walk, who knows how many men I'll have to deal with because of your beautiful face? Each one of them is difficult to handle. Your double standards are really unfair.”

Bailey stifled a laugh, snatched the mask from his hand, applied a bit of special ointment on it, and then stuck it onto his handsome face. Looking at the sleazy face before her, she gently furrowed her brows. It was indeed quite repulsive. Having to face such a face every day would surely affect her mood.

Seeing her frown, the overbearing CEO immediately guessed what was on her mind and quickly said, “Does it look particularly unappealing? Wifey, let's discuss it again and choose another one.”

Bailey nodded, reaching out and rummaging through the tray. At last, a mask with a fairly normal appearance was found, but it had a scar at the corner of the eye.

“Let's go with this one. If you're still unsatisfied, you don't have to leave Tarragon. Just stay here and hold down the fort.”

Artemis couldn't help but laugh. It seemed that his wife was determined not to let him appear normal in front of others. “Let's go with this one then.” A face with a scar was always better than a hideous one. It looked quite charming.

Bailey couldn't help it and burst out laughing. After stuffing the mask into his palm, she reached out and gently cradled his handsome face.

“It's so unfair! You thought you married a wife, but it turns out that she's an ancestor who needs to be worshiped daily. Do you regret this?” she asked.


Artemis raised his eyebrows and said with a light laugh, “Not only will I worship you every day, but I will also pamper you. I'll pamper you to death.”

Bailey glanced at him lightly, reached out to tear off the mask on his face, and said speechlessly, “Don't talk to me with that hideous face. It tarnishes the love between us.”

Artemis didn't say a word but began flirting with Bailey with his hands.

“This is a public place. Zeke, Holden, and Cameron can barge in at any moment,” Bailey said helplessly.

Artemis slightly raised his head, gave her a wicked glance, and said with a faint smile, “I didn't plan on doing anything. Are you overthinking it?”

Before he could finish speaking, Bailey threw a punch at him and said, “Annoying.”

Artemis was captivated by her delicate voice. He stood up, picked her up, and strode out.

Bailey exclaimed in surprise and annoyance, “Didn't you say that you had no such plans? What is this all about?”

“I've changed my mind now. Let's see if you can escape.”

Bailey was speechless. Damn it!

A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, followed by the continuous rumble of thunder echoing through the air. Inside the sickroom. Micah glanced at the gloomy sky outside and said, “It's about to rain heavily. The weather is chilly now, and if we get caught in the rain, we might catch a cold.”

He continued, “Dawn's eyes haven't recovered yet, and if they come into contact with unclean water, her condition could worsen. She has been kneeling for a whole day and night, so you should hurry and bring her back.”

Shannon put down the thermos in her hand and then placed the glass of warm water she had just poured on the bedside table. “Sip it with a straw, and don't get up. If you dare to disobey me, I won't bother about you anymore.” Having said that, she walked out.

Micah watched her retreating figure, and a faint smile couldn't help but form at the corner of his lips.

She was a woman with insincere words. Would she willingly stay and let him control her if she didn't care about him deep down?

Although she always had a stern expression, he was quite content.

After experiencing so much pain, he no longer expected her to show him a bright smile like an innocent young girl would.

As long as she stayed by his side, even if she treated him coldly every day, he was more than willing to endure it. After leaving the medical office, Shannon rode her electric scooter toward the Crocodile Pond.

In her heart, she didn't really dislike Dawn. She was just genuinely upset that the girl didn't know how to take care of herself.
