Super Mommy and Her Triplets
Chapter 884 Even Worse
Just as Simon was on the verge of breaking and Matilda was eagerly waiting for his response, someone barged in and disrupted the mother-and-daughter duo's plan.
This ignited Matilda's fury. Disregarding who the newcomer was, she rebuked, “Have you no manners? Don't you know to knock before entering?”
Instead of getting angry, Bailey smiled amicably. “I'm sorry, but this is my house. Even the air you're currently breathing belongs to me, so if you can't stand it, feel free to get lost. There's no need to force yourself to stay here.”
Matilda swiftly turned around and finally recognized who it was.
Her aged yet charming face lit up immediately, and her eyes twinkled as she spoke. “Oh, it's you, Ms. Jefferson. You've come just in time. As Mr. Simon's sister-in-law, you're akin to a parental figure to him. Surely he'll listen to you, right? I won't hold it against him for eloping with the bride previously. After all, they were once lovers and have feelings for each other. But now, he keeps getting in my way when I'm trying to take my daughter away. What's the meaning of this? Is he trying to keep my girl from me? If that's the case, I want you guys to make your intentions clear today. Does he want to marry my daughter or not?”
Bailey raised an eyebrow, chuckling lightly. “Are you trying to force us into making a promise?”
Matilda snorted. “Mr. Simon must promise that he'll marry my daughter, or else, I will forcibly take her away, and whatever happens to her in the future will have nothing to do with Mr. Simon.”
Bailey sneered inwardly.
The audacity! The Lockett family is clearly trying to ride on the Luther family's coattails, and yet this old hag actually has the audacity to put on such a ridiculously condescending front. Does she think all the Luthers are naive pushovers like Simon?
“Oh, dear. If we insist on keeping Ms. Aisley here, I'm afraid it might be unfair to her. Perhaps it would be best if you take her back.”
With that, she shouted toward the door, “Lex, arrange for a driver and personally escort them back, please.”
Matilda did not see that coming and got so angry that her whole body started convulsing.
“You...”
“I'm not leaving! I'd rather die than leave. If you force me to leave, I'll die right before your eyes!”
Simon's lips twitched, and just as he was about to speak, Bailey shot him a cold glare, cowing him into silence.
Then, she turned to look at Matilda, wearing a half-smile. “Mrs. Lockett, you're not blind, are you? Did you see what just happened?”
“You...”
“If you're blind and didn't see what just happened, I'd be more than happy to describe the scene to you. Your daughter was the one pestering my brother-in-law and refusing to leave, not the other way around. So please stop putting on that ridiculous act as if your daughter had been kidnapped by a poor lad. I'll give you two options, too. Either you let your daughter stay here, and as long as she behaves herself and doesn't cause any trouble, I'll ensure her safety. Or, you take her away, and the Luther family will not be responsible for whatever happens to her afterward. You're hoping for Simon to make a promise to her, but that's impossible. The men of the Luther family never look back.”
Matilda was reluctant to give up, but she knew well that continuing to make a fuss wouldn't do her any good.
We might really get kicked out of the house by this woman if I tick her off. Aisley can't leave. If she does, she'll lose the opportunity to get close to Catherine's daughter, thrashing our following plans. Most importantly, once she leaves Simon, the last shred of pity he has for her will also diminish with time.
“Very well. Since you've put it this way, I won't insist any further. I came here today determined to take Aisley away, but her mental state is unstable, so if I drag her away with me against her will, she might attempt suicide again. What about this? I'll come over to talk to her once she's calmed down. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you in the near future.”
Bailey's lips curled to form a hint of a sarcastic smile.
Even though she didn't know what tricks this old woman had up her sleeve, she knew the latter was plotting against Simon.
Letting Aisley stay could pose a threat to Catherine and Luna, but it didn't matter. Bailey didn't think Aisley could execute any devious plans under her watch.
Besides, Catherine was not someone to be trifled with, either.
Letting Aisley stay and cause trouble would probably make Simon despise her to the core, which was an ideal outcome, too.
“No worries. I assume you still have some private matters to discuss with Ms. Aisley. We won't disturb you any further.”
She then grabbed Simon's arm and dragged him out of the room.
Aisley wanted to stop him from leaving but was discouraged by a look from her mother.
Matilda still needed to discuss their upcoming plans with Aisley. Privacy was exactly what she needed.
After pulling Simon out of the room, Bailey couldn't help slapping the man on the back of his head.
“You silly boy! Didn't you realize you almost fell into their trap?” she snapped.
Simon tugged at his hair in frustration.
He was aware of what they were doing, but he couldn't bring himself to turn a blind eye.
“Bailey, you wouldn't want me to be an irresponsible jerk, would you? Even though my desire to marry Aisley isn't as strong as before, she has, after all, been with me for several years. You know that if she gets taken away, things will end badly for her. I can't bear to see that happen.”
