Chapter 440

Chapter 440

Kevan, too, received a call from Violet at work and found out about the matter between the two kids. Unlike Molet’s hesitation, he did not need to think too deeply into things to know that this altercation was caused by Bethany.

Although he had not met Bethany all that much during these past few years, he knew her better than Violet, who spent a lot of her time with the kid. At Violet’s request and urging, he rushed to the hospital and saw Bethany walling non-stop on the hospital bed. Her right arm was bound in bandages, likely the “scalded by hot water wound that Violet was talking about.

Violet and the nanny specifically hired to take care of Bethany were in the ward. However, no amount of soothing from them could calm her down. Kevan entered and lightly said. “Enough,” and Bethany stopped at once. She stared at him with wide eyes, and she curled up into hersell trembling incessantly.

She was afraid of him.

Even if Kevan did not know why, he was very satisfied with her reaction. He was a cold person anyway. Any warmth and gentleness he had, he had given to Larissa and Aster, Heaven knows how much he hated noisy kids, especially kids like Bethany, who was not the least bit adorable when crying.

The nanny moved away, and Kevan sat on the edge of the bed.

“What happened?” he asked Bethany, whose lips were trembling as she turned a pleading gaze toward Violel.

Violet criticized him, saying. “Be gentler to Bethany.”

Kevan looked up to stare at Violet Bally. That startled her and made Violet leel sad. was probably due to his memory loss. Ever since he woke up, he was cold to everyone. She knew that she could not force him to accept his family in such a short amount of time, but every

time he looked at her with such an unfamiliar gaze, it made her feel like she wanted to cry.

Kevan tumed back to Bethany and asked again, “What happened? When he saw that she was still staring at Violet, his voice became

colder at once. “Speak up.”

Sticking her lips out in a pout, Bethany nearly cried again. But as she was afraid of Kevan, she forced hersell to hold back her bears.

“Aster pushed me —” She snitted as she spoke. “He made me fall down, and the water spilled on me – She lifted her right arm to let him see, but Kevan’s gaze remained bland.

“Why did he push you?” he asked.

Bethany hesitated for a few seconds before speaking in a quieter voice than before. “He doesn’t want to play with me –

“You know that he doesn’t like you, so why did you try to play with him?” Kevan frowned.

Bethany’s eyes were watery, and she said nothing for a long while.

Violet could not bear it any longer, and she interrupted them. “That’s enough, Kevan, Bethany’s sill young, and she doesn’t know all these things. Besides, she is hurt too.”
