Sweet Subterfuge

Chapter 981
“Alright.” She hugged him hard.
His cologne filled her nostrils.
She breathed in deeply, suddenly feeling reluctant to leave.
It wasn’t because she didn’t want to leave Lewis. It was because she couldn’t bear to part with the place she’d studied and lived in for
more than ten years. This had become her second home.
Afraid that Lewis would catch on to her sentiment, she humedly let go and turned away.
Lewis stared at her back and said calmly. “You can cry if you want to. It’s not embarrassing.”
Wendy denied it. “I don’t want to cry. You do.”

It was so obvious she was holding back her tears that even Larissa couldn’t bear it. She wrapped her arm around her shoulders.
“Just let it out. It’s alright,’ she said.
“I don’t want to cry!” Because of their words, Wendy was actually feeling something now. “Let’s stop chatting around and go. People are watching.”
She waved at Lewis and said. “Goodbye, Lewis.”
Lewis pursed his lips slightly and said. “Goodbye.”
Larissa had sent Kevan the flight number after booking her tickets. He said that he would arrange for someone to pick her up.
Since he was so busy, she didn’t want to bother him. They no longer contacted each other after that.
Once the plane landed, Larissa texted Kevan, “We’re here. Are your people waiting?”
Kevan sent her a number and said, “You can call him,”
She called the number, and the person who picked up said that he was waiting for them outside. They could just walk out to meet him.
They kept the call going so that they would be able to recognize each other instantly.
There were more people coming back to Bartham, presumably because of the pandemic.
A horde of people was waiting at the entrance. Larissa spent a lot of effort finding the young man in black who was waving at her.
He introduced himself and said. “I’m Flint Yardley, Mr. Rogers assistant.”
Flint had never seen Larissa before, but he knew of her identity.
“Allow me to help you with those suitcases.” He was warm and enthusiastic, afraid of offending her.
