After Nicholas took off, he didn’t let the driver take him, but asked him to wait here to take Elisa home.

Nicholas hopped in a cab. He pulled out his phone, and his eyes fell on Allison’s contact. He thought about it, then dialed her number. “Are you free, Ms. Zimmer?”

Allison had just left the hospital and was about to grab a bite. She planned to visit the cemetery in the afternoon and then go to a bookstore. When she got Nicholas’ call, she said, “I’m about to grab some food. Nicholas, wanna join?”

Half an hour later, Nicholas got out of the taxi, looking at the pedestrian street in front of him. It was full of different food stalls, swarming with people, and pretty crowded. The place was almost exclusively for pedestrians and bicycles. Cars were basically a no-go here.

“I’m here! Nicholas!”

Nicholas turned around, and through the crowd a few meters away, Allison was standing in front of a hot dog stand, waving at him. Nicholas walked over to her. He had never been to such a bustling place, or eaten this kind of street food, but he didn’t feel out of place standing here. He thought he might feel a little uncomfortable, but it turned out he was just fine.
