Chapter 1136

who stood nearby, noticed the spectacle unfolding before her too. Alaric, the town’s charming Casanova, was being treated like a little boy with his ear firmly in the grip of his mother. The kicker was he couldn’t even throw a fit; he could only plead for mercy.

Hertha was in stitches, and Thalassa couldn’t contain her amusement either. A grin cracked through her previously bitter expression.

Catching sight of Hertha and Thalassa snickering, Alaric’s embarrassment deepened. With a complexion souring by the second, he addressed his mother, Angelina, with a serious tone, “Mom, if you don’t let go, I’m really going to lose it!”

“Oh, I’m shaking in my boots,” Angelina snorted, one hand on her hip, the other still twisting Alaric’s ear, forcing him to keep his head bowed in submission.

With a scowl, Angelina chastised him, “Now you’re concerned about your reputation? What about our family’s reputation when you’re out there romancing every Jane and Jill?” Angelina cast a disdainful glance at a woman nearby who, until moments ago, appeared quite pleased in Alaric’s embrace. The woman’s cheeks paled under Angelina’s reprimand. With the crowd’s laughter ringing in her ears, she turned and fled with her wounded pride.

“Your lady friend has left. Now, you’re coming with me,” Angelina commanded his son. She released Alaric’s ear and strode out of the bar.
