Thalassa glanced at Lysander’s leg and then up at him. Worry and tension were clear as day in her clear eyes.

Lysander caught her concern and attempted to downplay the injury, “It’s just a scratch, no big deal.”

Despite his casual words, Thalassa saw the harsh reality-a large swath of his calf was burned, several blisters had popped, and the mingling of blood and pus was a gruesome sight.
