Chapter 1157

Debby said to her, her voice thick with emotion.

Tears streamed down Thalassa’s face as she covered her mouth, her heart aching as though it were submerged in the depths of the ocean, struggling for breath.

After Leopold was laid to rest, indeed, she hadn’t come to visit him. She didn’t have the courage, fearing that the sight of his photograph would unleash a torrent of grief she couldn’t control.

She felt even less deserving of visiting him. The Sinclairs had forbidden her from stepping foot near Leopold’s grave, and she hadn’t figured out how to face him.

Now, cornered by Debby and facing his tombstone, her heart felt as though it had been carved out of her chest.

Debby recounted her own heartaches, and Thalassa could now understand her sorrow.

She had always assumed that Debby’s opposition against her stemmed from the petulance of a spoiled heiress, intent on claiming Leopold for herself out of sheer possessiveness.
