Dr. Everest hurried over to Zephyr, his steps echoing in the sterile silence of the hospital corridor. “Where’s Lysander?” he asked, his voice laced with urgency.

“In the ER,” Zephyr replied, his voice thick with anxiety.

As they spoke, a gurney wheeled out of the ER, carrying the unmoving form of Lysander.

Thalassa’s heart clenched in her chest, and she strained to catch a glimpse of him, desperate for even the slightest reassurance about his condition.

But her view was blocked by a sea of sterile blue drapes, creating a barrier that kept her from seeing what she needed most. the gurney was enveloped in a sterile cocoon, wrapped in those same blue drapes that bobscured Lysander from view. Thalassa’s hope to see him one more time seemed like a xuxury too far out of reach.
