"You made it to the semifinals, congrats!" Hertha's voice bubbled with excitement as she relayed the fantastic news to Thalassa.

"Thank you," Thalassa replied, her smile audible even through the phone.

"Hey, how about we celebrate tonight?" Hertha suggested, about to propose hitting up a local BBQ joint before the memory of their last misadventure made her swallow her words. "Let's skip it. It's pretty late, and it's not exactly safe out. How about we save the big celebration for when you snag the championship?" Hertha offered.

"Alright, I'll give it my all," Thalassa didn't hold back, knowing well that she planned to leave nothing on the table for this competition.

Hertha was about to continue the conversation when the doorbell rang, cutting her off. "Someone's at the door, gotta hang up," she told Thalassa before ending the call. Opening the door, Hertha was greeted by the sight of her parents, a surprise that brought a wide smile to her face. "Dad, Mom, you're here!"
