Alaric glanced back at Thalassa, who was visibly agitated. Her brows furrowed in worry; it was clear she was itching to get inside.

Turning to the bouncer, Alaric said, "I'm a friend of the groom, here by invitation. Aren't guests allowed inside?"

The bouncer, familiar with Alaric, hesitated nonetheless. "I need to see your invitation."

This bouncer was part of Lysander's security team, no stranger to Alaric and aware of his close friendship with Lysander. But today, the bouncer was acting under orders not just from Lysander, but also from Joshua. Joshua had been explicit: no invitation, no entry. It was their necks on the line otherwise. Just a guy on the job, the bouncer couldn't shoulder such risk.

Alaric began to panic, "I... I forgot my invite at home."

"That won't do. Please retrieve your invite, then you can enter," the bouncer insisted.

Before Alaric could respond, Hertha pulled him and Thalassa aside. In a hushed tone, she plotted, "Alaric, remember how we got Thalassa out of that hotel room before?"
