"I just can't!" He didn't see anything gruesome about it.

His wife was in a life-or-death situation; how could he even think of anything else? Karen spread her hands, "Telling me won't help, man. It's gotta be Dorothy's call!" It's not like she was the one giving birth!

"Pacing around won't do you any good. Why not sit down for a bit?"

Everett pressed his lips together, "I'm not tired."

He had to make sure that either Dorothy or the baby, whoever came out of that delivery room first, saw him right away.

"Just stop trying to calm him down, Karen. I get where he's coming from; how can he sit still?" Jeffrey glanced at the storm raging outside before pulling his wife closer, "Karen, you hungry? I can have my assistant bring us something. The doc said you've been running on empty since the twins were born, can't have you going hungry!"

"I'm not hungry, I'm too anxious! I gotta be the first to see Dorothy's baby!" Karen whispered the last part, careful not to upset Everett, "I was there when Dorothy had Abigail and Langston. Of course, I've got to be there this time too!"

"Eating doesn't mean you can't stay here. You don't have to go home; my folks are already at our place taking care of the kids."

Ever since Karen had the twins, and her health took a hit, Jeffrey's parents had dropped everything abroad to come back and help out with their granddaughters!

Now, the couple didn't have to worry about their kids at all.
