Chapter 636 She Did Not Want To See Anyone

“Lysander!”

Josiah called out her name, abruptly standing up. He frantically began to search for her, looking in the bathroom and the hallway, but she was nowhere to be found. With his hair disheveled and eyes reddened, he dashed around the vicinity of the hospital room, losing all sense of decorum.

Early in the morning, the hallway was filled with relatives of patients who had just returned from the cafeteria with their meals. Seeing his frantic state, they all stopped in their tracks to watch.

What on earth happened?

Josiah seemed oblivious to everything around him. After confirming that Lysander was not around, he rushed to the nurse’s station at the fastest speed possible. He found the nurse he had met the day before and asked. “Lysander is missing, have you seen her?”

His voice trembled, his eyes filled with bloodshot veins, clearly indicating he had encountered something significant.

“No.” The nurse grew anxious and quickly turned to ask her colleagues nearby. Upon learning that no one had seen Lysander, she added, “Dr. Thorne always has a precise internal clock. Perhaps she’s feeling upset and went downstairs for a walk. Why don’t you go look for her, and I’ll–”

Before she could finish her sentence, Josiah had already taken off like the wind, heading straight for the small garden downstairs. He didn’t even wait for the elevator, opting instead to take the fire escape.

Josiah descended the steps at breakneck speed. He nearly missed a step but didn’t pause for even a second, instead, he pushed on with his sprint. By the time he reached the small garden beneath the residential department, a metallic taste filled his mouth.

He had run too frantically, and with barely any water consumed the day before, his throat was so parched. that even breathing felt like swallowing a knife.

Most of the patients in the hospital were particularly careful about their health. Early morning was the coldest time of the day. Hence, there was hardly anyone in the small garden.

Josiah, undeterred, made several rounds, even going as far as to grab the few elderly men around, asking them if they had seen a young girl with long hair. Only after receiving negative responses did he, as if waking from a dream, head back to the outpatient department.

He almost forgot, Lysander did have acquaintances in the hospital.

In a fluster, Josiah dashed straight to Lynn’s office. Rather than saying he pushed the door open, it was more like he barged in. “Has Lysander been here?”
