Milo took the earliest flight to Brookville, but even then, he was still a step behind Charles.

Since the hospital was a private one, it was not easy for Milo to see Janet. He considered calling the police, but doing so would only anger Charles.

Once the police were involved, there would be no way to keep things under wraps. Milo had no choice but to seek out Charles directly, but Charles refused to meet him.
