Jeremy reached surreptitiously into his pocket and ended the active call. He then smiled at Adam and said, “Let’s get on with it, then. The quicker we end this, the better.”

Jeremy had shown tremendous resolve to avoid becoming Adam’s son-in-law, so Adam rubbed his hands vigorously without any intention of going easy on Jeremy.
