Cedrick could only stare blankly at his son.

Under normal circumstances, Cedrick would do his best to satisfy all his son’s requests. However, giving up his wife was the exception.

While he was sulking, Gwendolyn flashed a gentle smile and waved at Benedict. “Come over here, Benny, and let Mommy give you a hug.”

Just as Benedict let out a smug chuckle and attempted to prance forward, Cedrick blocked his way.

Even though Cedrick was kneeling at Benedict’s eye level, he exuded a distinguish yet stern aura, just like an exquisite statue.

He became a huge obstacle in Benedict’s path toward his mother. One that the latter couldn’t overcome.

In spite of that, Benedict showed no signs of frustration. He blinked innocently as he attempted to negotiate with Cedrick in his childish voice.

“Daddy, weren’t you talking behind Mommy’s back this afternoon? You said that Mommy loves to be a drama queen in front of you and that Zendy learns to play the victim from her, and Mommy managed to hear what you said, isn’t that right?”

Is it necessary to go into such detail? Having lost his confidence, Cedrick turned around meekly and snuck a glance at Gwendolyn.

She was staring at him with an indiscernible smile. Just her gaze alone was enough to get him to admit defeat.

Benedict continued, “Daddy, if you don’t behave yourself, I’m afraid you’ll be punished by Mommy.” He giggled, then deviously offered his father a solution. “But if I’m allowed to sleep between the two of you, you’ll be spared Mommy’s punishment.”

Narrowing his eyes, Cedrick replied through his gritted teeth, “In that case, should I be thanking you for saving me?”

“Don’t worry about it. Saving a life is the noblest thing one can do, let alone when the person is my beloved father. That’s why you shouldn’t object to me joining the two of you. I’m going to be your lucky star tonight.”

After circling around Cedrick, Benedict ran toward Gwendolyn and wrapped his thin arms around her leg.

After giving Benedict’s hair an affectionate tousle, Gwendolyn pulled him into her arms and said to Cedrick, “Benny has indeed not stayed at home for a long time, so it’s not surprising that he isn’t used to his room.
