While Rex's accusation of Frank was a little bizarre, Rex wheeled on him and smirked.

"Hah! You're still refusing to admit it?! It's obvious you're trying to drive a wedge between us, since Grandfather is asking about our soldiers!"

Then turning toward Governor Quill and bowing his head politely, he said, "Grandfather, since Frank claims that we've been abusing the families of your fallen comrades, why don't you ask them? They are standing right there, and they wouldn't lie to you, would they?"

At Rex's words, the rest of the Quill family realized with a start the reason why he had the audacity to stand out and accuse Frank for lying-he had a strong hand to play!

After all, Eric Holt's resistance was short-lived, completely stifled by Rex's hand just earlier, and those soldiers would never dare come forward now to accuse the Quill family of abusing them.

And with Rex holding their families hostages, things would simply carry on as usual, with those soldiers faking smiles and telling Governor Quill that they were treated well.

One word that rubbed him the wrong way, and Rex would have his hostages killed with Eric's mother being a clear example.
