Chapter 339 Avery's POV | didn't hesitate. | grabbed my bag off the chair and started shoving everything I'd brought into it, which thankfully wasn't too much, all while my mother's voicemail played on a loop in my head. Bjorn was missing | pulled my jacket on, slung my bag over my shoulder, and looked around the room once to make sure | hadn't left anything behind. Then, | quickly crossed the room to leave. Suddenly, before | reached the door, a figure stepped out of the closet. Tall, dark, with eyes shining at me in the dim light. "Avery," Gideon's voice said.

"You're alive." | stumbled back, gasping, and pressed my hand to my chest. My heart was pounding so hard it was painful. "How long were you hiding in there?!" | blurted out. He froze, looking at me. "We need to talk." He took a step forward, and | took one back, but it wasn't ---- enough space between us. My wolf surged again, howling louder than ever as Gideon's scent washed over me. "Avery, I've been looking for you for ten years." Gideon's voice slipped into my mind like butter. | didn't have enough time to tamp down our bond before he did it.
