Chapter 296 Avery's POV "Get away from me," Gideon said, shoving my hand back through the bars. "Gideon, please-" "I said get away!" His voice was hoarse. "You made your choice. You chose him." I stared at him through the bars. His face was pale and streaked with blood and dirt. The wound on his side was still oozing blood. "That's not true," I said quietly. "You just stood there and watched him torture me. You didn't say a word. Didn't try to stop him. Deirdre was right about you all along." My chest ached. "Gideon... It's not what you think." "Save it." He turned his head away.

"I don't want to hear it." Finally, frustration washed over me. Typical He never wanted to listen to me, not when it mattered. Well, I didn't have the time for his nonsense today. I had to focus on getting us both out of here, and I couldn't do that if he was bleeding out. Gritting my teeth, I reached through the bars again, this time grabbing his arm. He tried to pull away, but I held firm, not caring if my nails dug painfully into his skin. "I'm going to heal you whether you want me to or not," I said.

I can't get us both out of here if you're too injured to walk on your own." I pulled my hand back and focused on the moonlight. I shut my eyes. and imagined that silver light bending toward his wounds, like the Moon Goddess herself was sending it down. Then, I placed my hand over the wound on his side. Gideon hissed

it had been given, but I could tell it was made with the same silver blade. "Hold still." He didn't fight me this time. He just watched as I worked, his jaw working silently. "If you really chose him," he said quietly, "then why are y are you

now." I glanced over my shoulder. The guards were still distracted, but I didn't know how much longer that would last. "Just trust me." "Then let's go." Gideon moved closer, sitting on his knees now. "We can escape together. Right now."
