Chapter 215 Avery's POV "Does anyone have anything they wish to confess?" Gideon said the words in a low voice, the way one might discuss the weather, or a favorite sports team, but the intent behind them carried all the weight of a masked man carrying a baseball bat. The effect on the table was immediate. Everyone went stock still, as though continuing to move would be to confess guilt. We all looked at each other, trying to figure out who Gideon was talking to, and what he already knew that we did not.

As possibly the only person at the table who had already confessed their dark secrets to Gideon recently, I was the only one who continued sipping my lemonade while my eyes shifted pointedly towards Dierdra. If there was ever a guiltier wolf, I had yet to meet her, but although Dierdra turned slightly pale, she did a passable imitation of innocence, and I admit, I was a little impressed. Gideon scared the shit out of me, and I hadn't even done anything to warrant his wrath.

How much more terrifying it must be for someone like Dierdra who was actively colluding with the enemy and pretending to be the dutiful mate and mother? Interestingly enough, Gideon's family did not exactly look as ---- though their consciences were clear either?
