Gideon's POV

I couldn't believe I was actually doing this. I was almost a forty year old man. I was the Alpha of a strong and well-respected pack. I'd had more fights won under my belt than I could count.

And I was sneaking into Evergreen pack in a fucking disguise like this was I was the main character in some kind of teen drama movie. This was probably my lowest point yet, which was saying something, because I'd had a lot of low points over the past ten years.

"Alpha, are you sure about this?" Tegan, sitting beside me in the driver's seat, shot me an almost amused look as I adjusted my disguise in the rearview mirror. He knew better than to laugh at my expense right now, but I could tell he was struggling to hold it back. He had been ever since I told him to stop at the dollar store and I came out with a bag of costume supplies in my hand.

I pulled my baseball hat low over my head, then adjusted my sunglasses and looked at him. "I’m sure. Now shut up and give me the mustache."

"Alpha, this is insane—"

"Just give me the fucking mustache, Tegan."

My Beta reached into his pocket and pulled out the small package we'd picked up from the dollar store on the way here.

His hand was shaking from how hard he was holding back laughter. I snatched it and opened it, revealing the cheap, fake mustache.

"Go ahead. Laugh all you want." I looked in the mirror, ignoring my Beta, as I pressed the fake mustache on my upper lip. "But it'll get the job done, I can assure you of that."

Tegan turned away, pressing his palm to his mouth and pretending to look out the window as his shoulders shook. I rolled my eyes and took one last look at myself, ensuring everything was in place.

I had to admit that I looked pretty ridiculous. I had never worn a fake mustache in my life, not even for a costume, and I couldn't blame Tegan for laughing. But from further away, it would do. I didn’t intend for anyone to see me up close. Evergreen’s annual harvest festival was well known

pack-only affair, anyway. But it also meant that the entire Evergreen pack would be out, crowding through the fields. It would be chaotic, which was precisely the perfect environment
