Something was wrong. Very wrong.

My wolf had been going wild all night. Even just breathing in the air around Avery made him howl, that familiar bond pulling me toward her like she was holding the other end of a red string tightly around her fist and yanking whenever she felt like it.

This was different. It wasn’t the dull, aching throb of a bond that wanted to pull taut. It was slow and foggy, like steam rolling off a pool of hot water. It clouded my vision and filled my lungs and my nose and it made it hard to breathe.
