Chapter 99
Her knuckles turned white as she held the bedsheet too tightly.
She was afraid that he would give an affirmative answer, but she still held out a little hope in her heart.
But this time, Chad did not say anything. He let go of her hand coldly and pushed the door open without looking back.
utside the door, Emma and Grace were chatting on the sofa. When they saw Chad coming out, they
were shocked.
“What’s wrong, Mr. Smith?” she asked..
Chad ignored her and looked directly at Grace. “You clearly know that she’s pretending to he sick.”
Was he… really angry?
It was the first time that Grace had seen Chad treat her like this.
She blinked guiltily. “I…”
Chad didn’t want to give her a chance to explain, so he strode downstairs and left.
Just as Grace was about to chase after him, she was pulled by Emma to check on Hedda in the room.
Hedda’s eyes were very red, as if she had just cried. And she was also in a bad mood.
Emma threw herself at Hedda and said with a pained expression, “My dear daughter, I’ve tried to persuade you. Chad is too cold. He wouldn’t like you. But you had to give it a try, and now you’re
hurt!”
Hedda bit the corner of her lips and didn’t speak.
Knowing that Hedda had always been stubborn and that she could not persuade her once she had made up her mind, Emma turned her head to beg Grace.
“Grace, for the sake of our relationship, please help Hedda. Since you were able to ask Mr. Smith to come to Frant City, you must have a way to make him stay here.”
Grace shook her head and said with a serious expression, “It’s useless. He’s a man of principle. If he doesn’t like Hedda, no one can persuade him.”
Perhaps these words were a little too cruel for Hedda, but Grace had no choice but to say it bluntly.
It was better to have short-term pain than long-term agony. Hedda could only rely on herself to figure it out as soon as possible.
Emma sighed in disappointment.

Seeing this sad scene, Grace couldn’t do anything to help. She turned around and was about to leave.
“Grace””
Hedda stopped her and asked uncertainly, “Are you going to be my enemy?”
Emma was so scared that she trembled. Nancy’s fate was still vivid in her mind. She didn’t dare to
move…
Grace stood there quietly for a few seconds.
Without explaining or looking back, she left the Mellis family’s villa.
After coming out of the villa, she saw Patric in his car by the side of the road waiting for her.

She went straight over, opened the door, and sat in the back seat.
Seeing her serious face, Patric gently rubbed her head.
“What’s wrong? Who offended my little princess?”
Grace was sad. “I offended Chad.”
Patric laughed out loud. “Silly girl, you didn’t do anything wrong. Chad has been devoted to medical research all these years and hasn’t been in contact with a woman. Dad scolded him many times. It seems that he listens to you the most.”
“But he’s angry…”
Patric shook his head. “You don’t know him. He looks cold, but in fact, he’s shy. Anyway, you don’t have to worry about it. If he’s really fated to be with Hedda, they’ll be together in the end.”
Grace breathed a sigh of relief.
Patric seemed to have thought of something, and his expression gradually became serious.
“Grace, there’s something that I think I should tell you…”
Seeing that he was serious, Grace couldn’t help becoming serious too.
“It’s about… your ex-husband.”
Edgar?
Wasn’t he missing? She sent the Dark Bell to investigate, but they couldn’t find him. She only knew that he suddenly disappeared the day before Nancy held the press conference.
Grace asked suspiciously, “Have you found him?”
Patric nodded.
“Chris found that he’s in the mountains of Frant City and Wind City.”
Chris was well-informed, and his information network was indeed better than the Dark Bell’s. It was not surprising that he could find him.
However…
“What’s he doing there?”
Patric didn’t say anything, as if there was something embarrassing that he couldn’t bring himself to
say.
Grace put together all the clues of that period.
After thinking about it carefully, she shook her head with a smile.
“Does he think I’m dead and wanted to go there to get my body? Even if I died, he wouldn’t let go of my body?”
Patric choked and had to change the topic. “He was trapped in the mountains this time, so he didn’t come back for a long time. But it won’t be long before he returns to Frant City, maybe a week at
most.”
Grace froze for a moment.
A week was indeed a little short. If Jade hadn’t acted fast enough and Edgar had been able to come back in time to preside over the situation, it would have been difficult for her to make the Fallen Group go bankrupt.
