Chapter 198
“Don’t touch it, it’s dirty,” Grace warned.
She looked at Edgar, her thoughts clear. “This blood is fresh, which means something just happened here. When you and Eric rushed over, didn’t you see anything?”
Edgar remained silent but glanced at Eric.
I saw
Eric understood the unspoken message and explained, “I arrived first. When I came in, someone jumping out of the window and fleeing. I managed to wound him with a knife. This blood should be from that person.
“What happened to that person? With your skills, how did he manage to escape from you?” Grace inquired, seeking answers.
Eric scratched his head, feigning embarrassment. “I’m sorry, it was my oversight. He had backup, so I didn’t pursue him.”
Fine, there was no point in pursuing further if nobody was chasing the suspect.
Grace glanced at Edgar again, noting that apart from his injured face and lips, he seemed fine
“Let’s go back to the Cloud View Villa,” she suggested, turning to leave the room.
Edgar followed behind her, every step pulling on the whip wound on his lower back.
Erie quickly stepped forward to support him, noticing his discomfort.
Curious about the commotion behind her, Grace halted and turned back. “What’s wrong?”
Edgar took a deep breath, forcing a smile. ‘It’s nothing. I just slipped a bit.”
Eric rolled his eyes. How could he shift the blame onto him?
Bitterly smiling at Grace. Eric said, “Yes, I lost my footing. Fortunately, I reacted quickly and grabbed Mr. Fallen’s arm to prevent a fall!”
Grace brushed off the incident, not dwelling on it, and swiftly exited the abandoned factory.

Edgar asked Eric to drive away the car he arrived in and return with Grace’s car. Throughout the journey, Edgar sat upright, his suit impeccable, not leaning against the car seat.
Grace noticed his posture and recalled the burn on his back.
Edgar cleared his throat and spoke after a moment of silence, “It’s alright. Don’t worry, he will surely reveal something tomorrow.”
“Good,” Grace responded, leaving the conversation at that.
They soon arrived at Cloud View Villa, entering the living room together.
While Grace leisurely changed her shoes, Edgar had already changed his clothes. He took her hand and led her upstairs.
After climbing two steps, he stopped abruptly and said, “Grace, are you hungry tonight? I’m a bit tired, and I want to rest for half an hour before cooking.”

Grace felt a sense of unease but didn’t object. “I’m not very hungry. I can eat later.”
“Then I’ll go up first,” Edgar said, disappearing around the corner of the second floor.
For some reason, Grace had an odd feeling. She sensed that his subtle expressions were all the way
back.
Had the burn on his back worsened?
Chapter 158
She followed him to the second floor, only to find Edgar’s door unlocked.
Pushing the door open gently, she saw him lying quietly under the blanket, seemingly asleep. However, Grace noticed that he was lying on his stomach, still wearing his suit jacket.
She entered the room, walked to the edge of his bed, and sat down, reaching out to touch his forehead.
Feeling the touch of her cold hand, Edgar’s eyelashes trembled. ‘I don’t have a fever. I’m just tired. I’ll be fine,” he murmured.
Indeed, his forehead felt slightly warm, indicating no fever.
Perhaps she was overthinking things.
“Alright then, rest,” Grace withdrew her hand, preparing to get up and leave. But suddenly, she felt a strong grip tight around her waist. Before she could react, she realized that Edgar had wrapped his arms tightly around her, burying his head in her lap while his upper body lay on her thigh.
She was initially taken aback, not expecting him to be so bold this time.
“Stop!” she exclaimed, attempting to break free. However, Edgar’s grip only tightened, and he seemed unaffected by her resistance.
Just let me hold you for a while, he pleaded softly.
Grace hesitated for a moment. She remembered her resolve from the previous night to cut off any romantic thoughts and maintain their master-ser vant relationship. Yet, she found herself relenting and allowed him to embrace her.
The room fell into silence, and everything seemed to be in harmony. But Edgar’s brows furrowed, and his every breath seemed to cause him pain throughout his body.
The burn on his back was deteriorating without proper medication, causing the pain to intensify. However, the sweet fragrance emanating from Grace’s body was as tempting as honey, making him reluctant to let go.
As he lay on her lap, Grace could sense the heaviness in his breathing and the discomfort in his body. Something wasn’t quite right.
“After five days, the burn on your back shouldn’t hurt as much as before. Why does it seem like you’re in pain?” she inquired, concerned.
Edgar remained silent, grappling with the throbbing pain in his body.
Growing suspicious, Grace reached for the collar of his shirt. But Edgar swiftly caught her wrist, stopping her.
“I’m fine. Besides, without medicine, removing the bandage will only worsen the situation,” he said, his voice filled with suppressed pain.
