A pang of pain struck Grace’s heart. So this was how he always thought. He considered himself a burden, and he felt guilty about being with her. He also believed he would die soon.
She sighed softly, reaching out to touch him. “Eder, listen to me…”
He shrugged off her hand, turned away from her, and sobbed. Even his shoulders trembled.
After enduring and suppressing his emotions for so long, he finally mustered up the courage. “I know he was your first love, and you have a history together. If you still have feelings for him and insist on choosing him, I’ll step aside!”
Without even looking back, he made his way upstairs. Grace was left dumbfounded and infuriated.
After a brief moment of confusion, she chased after him. “Eder! What nonsense are you spouting? Is your brain filled with tofu?”
Eder walked faster and faster, swiftly ascending to the third floor. With a loud slam, he forcefully shut the door and locked it. Grace rushed up the stairs, and just as she arrived, he closed the door, almost hitting her foot, and accidentally bumping her head against the door.
She stared at the tightly shut door, her anger rising.
“Eder, are you feeling brave enough to lock me out? What are you sulking about? Can’t you listen to my explanation for a moment? Will you die if you open the door?”
She stood outside the door for two minutes, but there was no sound coming from inside, no indication that he intended to open the door.
It was already late at night, and Grace had been busy all day without a moment’s rest. She was exhausted. Who would have thought she would come home to face Eder’s cold shoulder? Her patience was wearing thin from men tal and physical exhaustion.
“If you don’t want to listen to my explanation, suit yourself. Take a couple of days to calm down, and we’ll talk later.”
The only response she received was prolonged silence. She didn’t say anything else and turned around to go back to her adjacent room.
Behind the door, Eder slid down to the ground and hugged his knees, his arms wrapped tightly around them. He didn’t turn on the lights, and he remained enveloped in darkness.
Having taken medication to suppress his angina for a long time, he didn’t experience an attack this time. However, he felt pain throughout his body, as if every limb and bone ached.
The air around him was silent, eerily quiet, making his heart race with unease. Pressing against the door, he listened carefully to the sounds outside..
There didn’t seem to be any noise in the adjacent room. Did Grace fall asleep so quickly?

While pondering this, the light in the room flickered on with a click. The sudden bright light blinded him, making it difficult to open his eyes.
In the few seconds that he was disoriented, his wrists were bound tightly with a belt, restraluing him.

Eder felt frustrated, struggling against the tight restraints. “Untic me!”

She lightly flicked his chin with her finger.
He turned his face away, emitting a sour expression. “Meeting with Nick late at night, do you think I can sleep? Tomorrow, pack your things and go to him?”
Frowning. Grace asked, “What’s with this jealousy of yours? Can’t you listen to my explanation?”
“You came back and lied to me. Do you expect me to listen to more of your excuses? I only trust my investigation results.”
Grace’s anger flared up again. “Have I spoiled you too much lately? Are you trying to pick a fight with me for no reason? When I talk to you calmly, you don’t listen, and you force me to get physical?”
Eder coldly snorted, refusing to look at her, emanating a chilling and menacing aura.
Unfazed, she swiftly opened the closet, grabbed a random white shirt, crumpled it into a ball, and forcefully stuffed it into his mouth. Then she lifted him up from the waist and threw him mercilessly onto the large bed.
The bed was soft, so Eder wasn’t hurt when he landed. After rolling around on the bed for a moment, he grumbled a few times and glared at her with accusing eyes.
Grace ignored his gaze and took a belt from the clothes hanger. She then tied his restless ankles. She lifted his hands above his head and used another belt to fasten his wrists to the corner post of the bed.
“Don’t move! Struggling will only hurt you. If you bruise yourself, I’ll have to apply medicine!” she warned.
Eder was about to explode with anger. His chest heaved violently, and his angry gaze remained fixed on her. He had never been this furious about her before.
Grace sat calmly on the edge of the bed, watching his futile struggles.

gently stroked his chest with her palm and taunted, “Glares can’t kill, so don’t waste your efforts. If you refuse to listen to explanations, I can only enforce my own methods.”
“I hate being misunderstood. If you want to accuse me falsely, that won’t fly!”
Under her soothing touch, Eder’s breathing gradually calmed down, though his wrists continued to struggle.
She sighed and spoke earnestly, “Listen carefully, I’ll explain it once.”
“You are not a burden, nor have you ever held me back. Since I chose you, I will walk with you in this lifetime to matter how difficult it gets!”
“As for Nick, I only admired and respected him when I was young, but those feelings have long worn away. He caused you to suffer from the virus, and all I feel towards him is disgust and a burning hatred.”
