Chapter 44

In the Hospital of B City, rapid footsteps sound in the quiet corridors of the VIP senior ward.

Dressed in casual attire, Joseph strode through the corridor with four bodyguards and headed straight for Master Dawson's ward.

Outside the ward stood Master Dawson's bodyguards and caretakers. When they suddenly saw Joseph, they were so excited.

Especially Tracy Baker, the caretaker of Master Dawson, came over and said, "Young Master Joseph! Young Master Joseph, you are back!"

"Hm! What's going on with my dad?"

"He's not very well. He has been talking about you all the time. It's good that you're back. The sight of you will make him half better."

As she spoke, she pushed open the door of the ward. Master Dawson, who was lying on the bed, heard the voice and was trying to sit up. Joseph quickly walked in and stretched out to hold Master Dawson, "Dad, you've lost a lot of weight!"

"My child, why didn't you tell me you were coming back? If I hadn't been sick, would you have never come back?" Master Dawson stared at Joseph with love in his eyes.

"No, I didn't say I wouldn't come back. It's all because I have too much work to do." Joseph smiled and helped Master Dawson sit up, then he put a cushioned backrest behind Master Dawson's back.

"Too much work? Joseph, I know you too well." Master Dawson sighed.

Joseph was handsome and had inherited his good genes, but he never did what he wanted to do. Joseph was not as decisive as he was, and only knew how to play with women.

Sending Joseph to study abroad was in the hope that he could study hard and become capable. Joseph, however, disappointed Master Dawson.

He was not very absorbed in his studies Instead, he liked to go to nightclubs and hang out with women.

Over the years, word of his womanizing abroad and changing girlfriends like changing clothes kept coming back to Master Dawson.


He was really worried about the little son on whom he had such great hopes.

As he watched Master Dawson sigh, Joseph's expression didn't change, "Dad, I didn't do anything either. Rest and take good care of yourself!"

"How can I have a good rest when you're like this? Joseph, you won't leave this time, will you?"

"I'm old and I won't live long. Please don't leave and stay with me, okay?"

"Okay!" Joseph nodded.

Master Dawson was very satisfied with Joseph's obedience, "You've reached a certain age, don't fool around all day. When I'm alive, you don't have to worry about anything, but if I die, what will you do?"

"So dad, take care of yourself for me." Joseph replied with a smile.

"No matter how long I can live, I can't stay with you forever. Joseph, you need to change your bad habits."

"Yes, I will." Joseph went along with Master Dawson's words.

Joseph made no objection, and Master Dawson was much relieved. Just as Master Dawson was about to talk to Joseph about his work, a bodyguard's greeting came from outside the ward, "Mr. Dawson!"

Charles was coming!

His quick arrival made Joseph's lips curl into a cold smile, but it disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Soon after, Charles entered the ward and put on a surprised face when he saw Joseph, "Joseph is back? When did you come back?"

"Last night," Joseph answered lightly.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back? I tried to call you several times to tell you father was ill, but I couldn't get through to you."

Charles was so scheming. It was obvious that he deliberately concealed the fact that Master Dawson was sick, but now it seemed was Joseph's fault.

Joseph said coldly, "Did you even call me? Why doesn't it show on my phone? Looks like my broken phone should be replaced."

Charles wasn't that stupid. When he heard the sardonic tone of Joseph, he smiled awkwardly. Why did Joseph change his mind all of a sudden?

Joseph had never retorted when Charles slandered him before. When Charles was thinking, he saw Master Dawson frown.

"You've come just in time. I was talking to Joseph about him staying. Joseph has been studying abroad for so many years, now it's time for him to make a contribution to the Dawson family. He doesn't know anything. You can arrange a training position for him in the company. I think I can arrange for him to be the part-time manager of the administration and human resources department."

"Isn't Master Dawson so biased? He asks an ignoramus prodigal be part-time managers of two important positions in the company!" Charles hated it in his heart, but he had no reason to refute it. He was the president of the company, but the real shares were in the hands of Master Dawson, who was the real decision-maker.

After visiting Master Dawson, Charles and Joseph left together. Charles put on a fake smile and said, "Joseph, I'll hold a banquet in Wolf Group tonight and invite George and Philip to come to welcome you."

"No, I'm not in the mood for a banquet now. Instead, I have a favor to ask of you."
