Jeremy didn't reply to him, but Elisa did.

She turned to him and explained, "It won't cure them completely, but at least it can delay the spread and extend their remaining time. We need to observe if it improves the situation. Perhaps… it might work too."

Her voice became smaller as she finished the sentence in uncertainty.

After all, she wasn't entirely sure about the outcome, but she wanted to let him know so he wouldn't be too worried.

Jeremy shot a glance at Gareth. "Don't worry. I'm sure it will be successful this time as well. We have done so many experiments just now, and none of them failed. Since each time has been a success, I believe this time around it will be the same too."

Thomas was still driving, but he shot a glance through the rearview mirror and realized that Gareth and Elisa were looking grave in the backseat.

They didn't speak until they reached Granny Nory's room.

When Elisa and the rest reached the bed, they found an emaciated woman lying there without any energy. She couldn't even open her eyes when she heard their arrival.
