She couldn't accept not doing anything and watching Elisa return to ascend the throne and receive the citizens' adoration.

Irene controlled her emotions and said, "Eden, don't forget that you're not the real crown prince. What are the consequences of you protecting Elisa? Don't talk to me about love. You and Elisa only met not long ago. Don't you think it's ridiculous to give up what you've been pursuing for years just because of that so-called 'interest' in her?"

Irene knew what Eden was most concerned about and his feelings toward Elisa. So, every word she spoke hit the bull's eye.

Eden glared at her bitterly.

Irene smiled. "Killing me at this critical time won't do you any good. Even if my country doesn't fight for me, you should remember whose turf this is. If you cause bloodshed and affect their business, do you think the mysterious person behind all this will let you off? Also, do you really think that I came unprepared?" The coldness in Irene's eyes grew more apparent.

Eden laid a hand on her just now, so she couldn't simply pretend as if nothing had happened.

Eden narrowed his eyes and emanated a threatening aura. "So?"

"You think there'll be no consequences after killing me? But have you considered that I reached where I am today not just by compromising and giving in?" Irene smirked dangerously.

Eden didn't reply but stared fixedly at her.

Irene continued, "I have kept my guard up ever since we started cooperating. Don't even think of obtaining what I fail to obtain. If I die, you won't have it any better!"

At that moment, Eden realized it was not a good idea to offend a woman. He didn't know what crazy things Irene might do. Before his plan succeeded, he didn't intend to burn bridges with Irene.

"Many people saw us coming in together. We might become a laughing stock if we suddenly go in separate ways. At this moment, you shouldn't act rashly, or you might invite unnecessary troubles." Eden gave in, but his expression remained unpleasant.
