Holly kept dialing Scott's number, but all her calls went unanswered.

She panicked even more. When she called her parents, she was told Scott had been away from home for a few days by then.

After her parents heard the panic in her voice, they asked her if everything was alright. However, there was no way she would dare tell them anything. After hurriedly making up a few excuses, she hung up on them.

She then called her sons.

At first, she tried to call Ethan, but he did not pick up.

Next, she called Stephen.

He answered, but he was audibly drunk.

"Stephen," she shouted into the phone, "did you know your father was going to file for a divorce?"

"Sure. Why would I not?" He drunkenly giggled. "Not only is he divorcing you, but he is also disowning me. Say, isn't it hilarious? Heh. He even told me to change my last name to yours, Baker. Ha! I have been Stephen Taylor for twenty years. To ask me to be a Baker out of nowhere... Does he think I am a fool?"

He kept blathering, but she was no longer listening.

Holly was stunned by what he spoke of; George was disowning Stephen and throwing him out of the Taylor Family.

Was George mad?

Black spots appeared in her vision as she stumbled, nearly collapsing to the ground.

Giving George two sons was the reason behind her confidence and pride. She had thought that she would always be his wife as long as her two sons were around.

Never in her dreams did she think George would divorce her or disown their son.

No.

He would not.

He was angry with Stephen and did not mean that. Anyway, she still had one more son, right?

Ethan would surely help her.

Holly's fingers were trembling so hard that she nearly dropped her phone. She called Ethan once more.

This time, someone picked it up.

"Ethan," she shouted, like someone who was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, "did you know? Your father is going to divorce me! I don't want a divorce! Ethan, help me!"

"Mom," Ethan whispered in a very soft and somber voice, "I'm in the police station. Uncle Scott has been captured by the police, and... the driver who killed Leigh's grandfather is also here. Someone dragged him back from abroad. I don't know the details yet, but the police are currently questioning him. Mom..."
Holly kept dialing Scott's number, but all her calls went unanswered.

"Tell me the truth," he continued, speaking even softer. "Were you involved in the death of Leigh's grandfather? Was it really an accident or—"

"The driver who killed the old man is back in the country. Why? H-How?" she stammered. "D-Didn't he migrate overseas? Why is he back so suddenly?"

"It was not a sudden return," he replied. "They say the Harts went looking for him."

"The Harts? Do you mean the Hart Family? Is it Madeline's doing?!" Holly shouted, furious. "What does she want? I have done nothing to her! Is hurting Katie not enough for her? Is she after me too? She deserved to be stolen by Cameron back then! Why didn't she just die while she was away?"

"Mom!" Ethan barked in warning. "Don't say that. If Aunt Crystal and Uncle Michael hear about it, they will be angry. The situation is bad enough as it is. Do you really want to make them our enemies?"

"Why? How can this be?" she mumbled to herself in terror. "That incident happened ages ago. Why are they looking into it now? They're dead and have been for years. Why are the police investigating their deaths now? It is all in the past, right? After all, it has been so many years—"

"Mom, there is no point in saying any of that. Let us talk about something else that would help us," he gently interrupted, doing his best to restrain his impatience. "Tell me; were the deaths of Leigh's family accidents or homicides? You have to tell me the truth. I can only help you if you do so!"

"Help me? How would you help me?" She muttered before gritting her teeth and spitting out, "It was an accident! Everything was an accident! Your uncle crashed into Leigh's parents, killing them. Her grandfather died by accident. I was not involved in any of their deaths! I am not involved in any of it!"

Despite her words, Ethan could sense from the way Holly reacted that it was not an accident at all. His heart sank. "Mom, I am one of the people on earth most worthy of your trust. Who can you believe in, if not me? You must tell me the truth so that I can help you..."

"I said, it was an accident! How many times do you want me to repeat myself?" Gone was her usual sophisticated elegance. She screamed at the top of her lungs, "I told you, it was an accident! An accident! That is all!"

Before he could reply, she hung up.

When he tried calling back, he heard an automated message stating the number was unavailable instead.

He rubbed his temples to ease the pounding in his head. As he thought about what his next move should be, Ruben, his lawyer, hurried over.

"President Taylor…"
