Could Sebastian's tongue get any sharper?

However, he had a point.

"Everyone chooses their own path in life." Madeline sighed. "That woman has no one but herself to blame for her situation."

Thus, being born into privilege wasn't the only factor that determined one's happiness. It was still important for people to live their lives properly.

To live a true and meaningful life, a person had to regulate themselves and avoid being arrogant, reckless, and overindulgent.

"Yeah." Sebastian nodded. "In other words, she deserved it."

"Exactly," Madeline agreed. "Does Uncle Paul have a girlfriend now? He still looks quite young to me. Is he a lot younger than… Dad?"

Madeline blushed a little when she referred to Philip as Dad.

She felt that it sounded a little too intimate. It didn't roll off the tongue quite so easily.

Still, Sebastian had insisted on having her refer to Philip as her father too, so she had no choice but to comply.

Sebastian was amused by her shyness.

Although this wife of his was already the mother of two children and an incredible fighter to boot, she still seemed like an adorable young woman who blushed easily. Somehow… he couldn't help but adore her.

He smiled and his eyes softened as he gazed at Madeline. "Uncle Paul gets into relationships now and then, but never to the point where he considers marriage. You're right. Uncle Paul and Dad have a fairly large age gap. Dad's 12 years older than Uncle Patrick, and Uncle Patrick's 12 years older than Uncle Paul, so that means Dad's 24 years older than Uncle Paul. He's even old enough to be Uncle Paul's father."

"So, that means Uncle Paul should be about 40 years old, right?" Madeline remarked. "It's not too late for him to get married."

Sebastian chuckled. "Look at you getting so involved. Dad has been urging his brothers to get married for decades now, but both my uncles are still single despite that. So what if Uncle Paul's still fairly young? None of that matters if he doesn't meet the right person."

"Well, that's true," Madeline said after a pause before sighing.

"I just think it's a pity. Uncle Patrick and Uncle Paul seem like great men. I wish they could have a happy family of their own too."

"You'll never truly know what someone else's life is like if you're not them," Sebastian commented. "You may think that having a happy family is what makes your life fulfilling, but for some people, marriage is a prison, or where love goes to die. Marriage can be a blessing if you meet the right person, but it can also be a curse if you meet the wrong one. Marriage isn't for everyone. Perhaps you think that Uncle Patrick and Uncle Paul will be lonely without a wife and children. Look at them now, though. They're living life to the fullest and traveling all over the world, from the Arctic Circle to Antarctica, and even the Himalayas. They can go wherever they want whenever they want, but do you think they would be able to live such a carefree life if they had a wife and children?"

Madeline was speechless.

How incredible!

After giving it some thought, Madeline nodded and said, "Okay. I admit that I was only looking at it from my perspective."

"Since you're so concerned about Uncle Patrick and Uncle Paul, why don't you help them more realistically?" Sebastian caressed Madeline's hair as he stared at her with a meaningful smile.

"Something more realistic?" Madeline had a serious look in her eyes. "Is there something I can do for Uncle Patrick and Uncle Paul? Tell me! Whatever it is, as long as it's something within my power, I'll be sure to give it my best!"

She had been feeling a little restless and uneasy after receiving such lavish gifts from the two men, so she jumped at the opportunity to do something for them in return.

"Yes, there is! You'll be able to do it…" Sebastian pressed her down and caged her in as he explained with a smile, "Uncle Patrick and Uncle Paul said they need successors to take over from them…"

Madeline turned bright red.

He's always… making it about that!

She turned to check on the children.

Sebastian managed to convince the boys to sleep in their room back at Sun Garden, but although they had a room here as well, the boys were in an unfamiliar place and didn't want to sleep alone, so they were sleeping with the couple tonight.

Sebastian should exercise more self-control tonight, she thought.

She shoved him in the chest. "Stop fooling around!"

"I'm not fooling around. I'm being serious right now," Sebastian said with a chuckle. "But you don't have to feel pressured. Although some people might prefer sons, I prefer daughters more. If you can give me two adorable little girls who look just like you…"

Sebastian chuckled once more. "I can already imagine how perfect it would be!"

His heart was melting at the thought of it.

Madeline didn't know what to say. "It might be quite hard to fulfill that wish of yours."

"Why do you say that?" Sebastian asked.

"Even though there's the genetic predisposition for twins on my mother's side, you've also seen that both of my parents' families seem to have a lot more sons than daughters," Madeline reminded. "My mother had four sons before she had me, and on my father's side, I have two uncles and no aunts. Even my uncles have four sons among them without any daughters."

Sebastian cocked his head to the side and mulled it over. "I'm fine if you give me four sons first before giving me a daughter, or even six sons before a daughter… Hang on! Let's make it two daughters! Aldo and Buddy are so cute together. I would be over the moon if I had two daughters just as cute as them!"

Madeline was speechless.
