"Yes, it's him. He's the president of the Hart Corporation, Sebastian Hart." Crystal put on a faint smile. "It seems that you don't believe me, Ms. Perkins. In that case, why don't you stay in Wendel for a few days and attend my daughter's wedding? Two days later, my son-in-law will come over, and you can follow us to Dusktown. You'll see for yourself whether the Hart Family I'm talking about is the same as what's on your mind."

Ms. Perkins' eyes widened, her heart fluttering. She couldn't help but turn to look at Madeline.

Madeline… that lowly woman from the Taylor Family. Could she be so lucky? Not only is she the young lady of the Wendel Family, but she'll also marry the most promising young man from the Hart Family. In fact, he comes from the most prestigious family in Elsenburg.

The Hart Family's wealth far surpassed that of the Dugray Family.

Earlier, James' mother had mocked Madeline for daydreaming by seducing her son in an attempt to be part of the Dugrays. If Madeline was getting married to Sebastian, why would she even be into her son?

Her actions earlier just showed how ridiculous and conceited she was. At that revelation, her face started flushing red.

She didn't have the nerve to keep staying there, so she forced a smile and said to Crystal, "That's for sure. We'll attend your daughter's wedding if we have time. There's something else we have to attend to, so we'll stop bothering you. See you, Miss Taylor. Let's go, James."

She beckoned to her son to motion for him to leave with her immediately. The entire farce was embarrassing, and she had never felt more humiliated in her life before; it was like getting slapped in the face repeatedly. She was so embarrassed that she had to get out of this place as soon as she could.

Meanwhile, a dazed James stared at Madeline. Is it true? Is she getting married? Moreover, the man she's marrying is much better than I am.

If it was just Madeline who told him that she was getting married, he could've told himself that she was lying so that he would stay away from her. However, it was unlikely that Crystal would lie about such a matter. Therefore, Madeline was indeed getting married.

Ever since his mother gave him the green light to divorce his wife, he had been fervent, and his heart was filled with hope. It was his biggest hope that he could get divorced as soon as possible so that he could look for Madeline and pursue her.

After he got married, he felt wretched whenever he thought of the fact that he had lost the right to woo Madeline. He wanted to get together with her, but he could never get the woman. His heart yearned to be with her. He had repeatedly regretted that he had caved into his mother's arrangements. He shouldn't have dumped Madeline and married his wife.

The moment he got permission to divorce his wife, he thanked fate for giving him a second chance so that he could rectify his mistake and bring his life back on the right track. Recently, he had been in high spirits, always feeling energetic and enthusiastic every day. He just hoped that he could divorce his wife as soon as possible and pursue Madeline.

However, his dream was crushed. Madeline was getting married before he could even divorce his wife. Moreover, her husband was someone even brighter than he was, so he could not even snatch her from him. He looked dazedly at Madeline, his heart wrenched and face livid.

Embarrassed, James' mother grabbed his wrist and lugged him away.

"They're so annoying!" Crystal muttered under her breath with a frown, then wrapped her arm around Madeline's. "Forget about them. Have you found anything you like, Maddie?"

"I haven't made up my mind," Madeline replied helplessly. "You and dad have already prepared a lot of things for me. Just buy the things you've selected. There's no need for more."

Crystal said, "No way. The gifts show how much we care about you, and they'll certainly boost your confidence. You can help me save money in other areas, but we can't save on the gifts for your wedding. Just buy more."

She felt vexed when she recalled how condescending James' mother looked when the latter spoke to her daughter. Infuriated, she pointed at the jewelry on the display counter. "This, this, this, and that. Pack them all up."

Her daughter wasn't with her during her formative years, so some ignorant people probably assumed that she didn't care about her daughter. In that case, she had to boost her daughter's confidence by buying more things for her.

Even though Madeline didn't grow up by her side, she was her biological daughter at the end of the day. Moreover, her daughter was intelligent, beautiful, and considerate. She took a liking to her at first sight.

Although she didn't get to spend the past twenty years with Madeline, her daughter was still a young woman. Hence, Crystal still had ample time to get along with her daughter. She had to let everyone know that even though Madeline didn't grow up in the Wendel Family, their daughter was loved by her husband and her. No one could ever underestimate her daughter.

If not for the fact that Madeline had stopped her, she would've bought up everything on the display counter.

Madeline picked out the things she didn't like and pushed them away to stop her mother from paying for them. Despite that, the bill still came up to several million.

Still, Crystal was not satisfied. "The accessories here aren't top-notch. Fine accessories are hard to come by. If I see any quality accessories being put up for auction in the future, I'll buy them for you. Keep them well so that you can give them to your future daughter when she gets married."
