"Mommy, why would a lucky person trip and fall down the hill?" Joel's eyes glimmered in confusion.

Madeline fell silent as she could not refute those words.

Meanwhile, the bodyguards of the Hart Family had already descended for the rescue. It only took ten minutes before two bodyguards brought the injured girl back to safety.

The girl truly was lucky. Although she was unfortunate enough to fall down the hill, she only suffered some scratches on her face and arms despite the high fall. She sprained her right leg, but she did not bleed nor sustain any internal injuries.

She was lucky enough.

After Amy Atkinson was rescued from the foot of the hill by the two bodyguards, she tried her best to control her fear and sorrow as she thanked the people who saved her. "Thank you so much, gentlemen. When I get home, I'll pay you back!"

"We're just doing our job," one of the bodyguards said, "It was the young master and his wife who ordered us to rescue you."

He looked over at Sebastian and Madeline. By then, Madeline had already walked over to them and was examining Amy's injuries.

After spending so much time with Leigh, she had more or less learned some medical skills from her. Even though she was not very proficient, she could still deal with simple injuries.

She asked Amy, "Are you feeling discomfort anywhere?"

Amy shook her head. "Save for the unbearable pain in my right leg, I'm fine."

Just shaken.

After falling down the hill, she shouted until her voice turned hoarse, but no one came to rescue her.

Save for the howling wind in her ears, there was nothing else. Especially after nightfall, the temperature on the mountain grew lower. Except for the clothes she was wearing, everything else she brought had fallen down the mountain as well.

If no one came to rescue her even after midnight, she might be frozen to death in the mountains.

In all her life, she had never felt as fearful as she was tonight. She did not want to die yet; she was still so young! If she did, her parents and elder brother would definitely be saddened.

"Thank you!" she thanked Madeline profusely. "I'm so glad I encountered you guys, or I really don't know what to do… M-Maybe I would've died on this mountain." Her voice was trembling as she tried her best to stop herself from crying. However, her tears still followed uncontrollably.

"You're welcome. No matter whom you encountered, they'd surely save you." Madeline took the blanket the bodyguard passed to her, then wrapped it around Amy's shivering body. "This is an undeveloped mountain and you're all alone. Why would you come and hike this mountain on your own? It's too dangerous."

"I… I actually bought tickets for the developed mountain opposite there…" Amy said, a little embarrassed, "I originally bought tickets for two, one for me and another for my boyfriend. However, before coming here, my boyfriend suddenly changed his mind and decided not to come with me. I was mad, so after getting to that mountain, I saw that it was filled with people. I was irritated by that, so when I noticed there wasn't anyone on this mountain, I decided to hike this mountain instead. I just wanted some time alone…"

She never thought that she would be so unlucky as to tumble down the hill. Her phone had also slipped from her fingers and fell below the hill.

Had it not been for this fated encounter, she might have died here without any rescue. This was her first time doing something willful, but she received retribution for it. In the future, she would not dare to be stubborn anymore.

"Oh, right…" Amy asked Madeline, "Can I borrow your phone, just to tell my family that I'm safe? My phone fell down the mountain."

"Of course." Madeline took out her phone and unlocked it before passing it to Amy.

"Thank you!" After receiving the phone, Amy rapidly dialed a number.

It only rang for a second before the call was answered. The person said in a hasty voice, "Hello."

Amy said, "Ewan, it's me."

"What's up with you?" Ewan Bennett, Amy's brother, said angrily, "You said you're going on a trip, then you dropped off the grid right after. If I fail to contact you any further, I would've called the police!"

"I'm sorry…" Amy said regretfully, "I accidentally lost my phone…"

Ewan asked, "Is this your new phone number?"

"No, a kind person lent me their phone…" Amy replied.

"A kind person's phone?" On the other end of the line, Ewan's brows were deeply furrowed. "It's so late already, but you haven't gone back?"

"I…" For a moment, Amy did not know what to say.

She feared that her brother might worry, so she subconsciously tried to lie to her brother. However, her brother was too smart, so no one could easily deceive him with lies.

As such, Ewan sensed that something was wrong. "Amy, let's start a video call."

"It's okay, Ewan," Amy hastily said. "It's getting late, so I should be returning the phone to its owner and going back to the hotel now."

"You haven't gotten back to the hotel?" Ewan was losing it. "You're still outside this late at night? Is your boyfriend there? He's not, is he? It's so dangerous for a lone girl like you to be outside this late at night! Where's your boyfriend? Did you get into a fight?"

Amy fell silent.
